If the wound is healed, it should be mended with one layer, that is its summary. If it is really difficult to heal, then it should be given, and here, "really difficult to heal" means that it cannot be healed with difficulty, its essence is itself. For what is really difficult to heal, permission is given. Here it is taught: If it cannot be healed by the healing methods previously taught, then at that time, in order to make other seats, permission should be given. Like this, what is said for the sake of the fingernails of the hand is due to the topic, but in order to be applicable to other situations, it is written in general. What would cause the abandonment of the six-year limit? Therefore, without obtaining permission, or abandoning it at will, making a seat before six years have passed, thus it is said: Which bhikkhu has not obtained permission from the Sangha in order to make a seat, that is without obtaining permission, that is him. "Having another" means having another seat. "Abandoning at will" means abandoning it completely according to one's own wishes. "Before six years have passed" means that whoever has made another seat or abandoned it at will before six years have passed, that is at that time. "Making a seat" means that at that time, once the seat is completed, one will commit a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. Here it is taught: If a bhikkhu has his own seat, or abandons it at will, and six years have not passed, and without obtaining permission from the Sangha, makes another seat, he will commit a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense, that is its summary. It should be considered that this is said with regard to the offense of overturning the seat. "Once it is started, if it is made, it is like it is finished" means, "once it is started" refers to the first time the seat is started. "If it is made" means, simultaneously with the one that has been started, or later making another seat. "Like it is finished" means, like the previous one has been finished, and another one is made, one will commit a Dukkata offense. Here it is taught: If a bhikkhu makes a seat, and simultaneously with the one that has been started, or later makes a second seat, then just like the previous one has been finished, and another one is made, one will commit a Dukkata offense, the seat

If, after starting to make it, it is completed together, or if a second one is made later, it will only become a misdeed. Ultimately, it is not the case that it will not constitute an offense, which means that even if the last cushion made is eventually completed, it will not constitute an offense, but will only become an offense of misdeed. Here it is taught that if a monk first makes one cushion and then makes a second, and the last one made is completed first, then at that time it will not constitute a substantial offense, because at that time the second one is not completed. At the very time of making the last cushion, it will only become an offense of misdeed. In this way, it should not be understood that just because it will constitute an offense, it will also constitute a substantial offense, because when the second cushion is completed, it will constitute a substantial offense. For other renunciates, it is different, which means that the two previous and subsequent renunciates are different, meaning that the continuum is different. Here it is taught that if a monk makes or completes a cushion at the time of the previous ordination, and then makes or uses another cushion at the time of the subsequent ordination, even if it is before the time is completely over, there is no fault, because the other renunciate is different. Just like the case of a householder, even if he did not make a cushion while he was a householder, if he later renounces and makes or uses another cushion, he will not be at fault, and here it is the same. Here some texts say, is there any case where a monk makes a cushion six years ago and will not be at fault? Yes, if he has disrobed six years ago, and after being fully ordained, makes another cushion, there is no fault. It is said in the scriptures that it is the same if he disrobes after making a cushion. That which is to be abandoned, held for six years, has been explained. The nineteenth chapter. What causes the abandonment of a span? Therefore, it is said that if one uses a new mat that is not patched with the Sugata's span from an old mat, it will cause abandonment.
