Regarding actions: If one receives clothing that has not become intimate from a non-relative Bhikshuni, that act of receiving itself is a combination, and one commits a misdeed. Here, some texts say that if there is clothing in a certain large container, and she says, "Please offer it to someone who is worthy," receiving it will result in a misdeed. What is meant by being vast and not belonging to the category of trade is that giving clothes and so on is the main thing. What is meant by vast is wide. What is meant by not belonging to the category of trade is being free from buying and selling. If both of these are present, giving clothes and so on is the main thing; that is the meaning of "main." If a Bhikshuni is both vast and free from trade, and therefore gives clothes to a Bhikshu, and that Bhikshu also accepts them, then that Bhikshu will not incur a downfall. As it says in the text, "Having placed it beforehand, say, 'Please allow me to enjoy it, please let the noble one enjoy it, this will become my merit,'" saying this will not incur a downfall. Or, "Offering without expecting repayment, please enjoy it," or "The clothes are not suitable," or "Exchange," having received these things, and later saying, "Worthy one, there is no need to give a price," saying this will not incur a downfall. Whatever is said in this way is summarized by this sutra. With a temporary intention, there is no downfall, meaning that receiving Dharma robes and so on from a non-relative Bhikshuni with a temporary intention does not incur a downfall. Because it is said in the sutra that because of concern, receiving clothes and so on in a temporary manner does not incur a downfall. What is meant by forgetting to give payment is that having exchanged something for value, one forgets to give payment. Even if one has already received it from the Bhikshuni, even so, there is no fault. Here, the text is that the Bhagavan said, "Worthy one, there is no need to give a price," saying this does not incur a downfall, which is exactly what was explained earlier. Therefore, for those who do not remember, there is no fault. What is meant by requesting to renounce acceptance is the complete content that appears from the chapter on requesting. What is meant by renouncing acceptance has been explained. Regarding the renunciation of requesting, there are differences in downfalls here.

What is it then? Therefore, belonging to human beings, becoming a householder, being alive, not being a relative, is the perpetrator of downfall, thus it is said. Belonging to human beings means being born into the lineage of humans. Becoming a householder means not being ordained. Being alive means not being without life. Not being a relative means being separated from the characteristics of a relative. Perpetrator of downfall means because of committing downfall, therefore being the perpetrator of downfall. In order to show similarly with simple meaning, therefore it is said, it is also the same for the following three. For the basis of learning arising only from below, it is also the same perpetrator of downfall for the following three. Here, what kind of bhikshu is the perpetrator of downfall? Therefore it is said, for those who have not been robbed of clothes, not lost, not burned, not carried away by the wind, and not carried away by water. For those who have not been robbed of clothes, not lost, and so on. If one uses something more, what kind of downfall will it become? Therefore it is said, if one begs, it is a misdeed. Begging will become the perpetrator of a misdeed. If one obtains, it is the actual deed, which means if one obtains from the cause of begging, one will become the perpetrator of the actual deed of expiation. What does one obtain? Therefore it is said, it is a Dharma robe. How much is the size? Therefore it is said, it is not small. It is the meaning of a Dharma robe possessing its own size. How is it? Therefore it is said, one has begged for any kind from value, color, and size. If one obtains any kind that one has begged for from value, color, or size, then one is the perpetrator of the actual deed. Here, in the Abhidharma, the sound of "colored" refers to colors such as blue. Therefore, if one obtains the value, color, or size that one has begged for, one will fall into downfall, otherwise one will not, that is the meaning. Then, what will happen if one obtains something else? Therefore it is said, for others there is no downfall. For obtaining other value, other color, or other size, there is no downfall.
