The term "separately respecting" means that renunciants who do not have alms bowls, etc., should take whatever is convenient. The explanation of "separately distinguishing the downfall of causing to wash" ends with what appears in the section on distinguishing. In order to summarize what appears in the section on "stating the downfall of causing to wash," it is said, "There is no fault in causing to wash what has become impure due to excrement, urine, dirt, mud, etc.," meaning that there is no fault in causing to wash when there is a downfall due to excrement, etc., becoming impure. This shows that even for something that needs to be washed slightly, there is no minor downfall. There is an offense for mule dung, the clothes of laypeople, pillows with dirt inside, things that have been allowed, abandoned, and those belonging to the Sangha. This means that if a non-relative Bhikshuni is made to wash mule dung, etc., there is an offense. The section called "the chapter on stating the downfall of causing to wash" ends with what appears in the chapter on stating. The "downfall of causing to wash" has been explained. Wanting to speak about the downfall of accepting, in order to show what comes along the way, it is said, "A Bhikshuni should accept in order to exchange precious clothes," meaning that a Bhikshuni should accept in order to exchange precious clothes, but not for enjoyment. The term "exchanging together with a Bhikshuni" means the general term for a Bhikshu exchanging clothes, etc., together with a Bhikshuni. What kind of items? Therefore, it is said, "Because of equality," meaning because of equal value. Or because she is happy, meaning that the Bhikshuni with whom one exchanges will be happy. What action leads to the downfall of accepting? Therefore, it is said, "If one accepts," meaning that one accepts from a non-relative Bhikshuni, as previously stated, thinking it is there or hesitating. How does one accept? Therefore, it is said, "Through expression," meaning not through accepting without speaking, nor through expression other than words. What does one accept? Therefore, that

Saying "it is the remaining clothes," it does not refer to the alms bowl and medicine, etc. In order to show the special exclusion of all those situations, saying "offering clothes to the Sangha and speaking well has no downfall," that is, offering clothes to the Sangha and speaking well, offering has no downfall. Saying "ordained ones and those who have lost things, etc.," that is, for a Bhikshu who is being ordained and those who have lost things, etc., there is no downfall in accepting from a Bhikshuni who is not a relative. It is shown in this way that for a Bhikshu who is being ordained and those who have lost things, etc., if they accept Dharma robes, etc., from a Bhikshuni who is not a relative, there is no downfall for them. Saying "first speaking of wealth, placing it in front and leaving without regard," that is, if a certain Bhikshuni is going to offer Dharma robes, if the Bhikshu refuses to accept from that Bhikshuni, the Bhikshuni also first speaks of wealth, saying "I have such wealth, please accept it, Noble One, for the sake of compassion," placing the wealth in front and leaving without regard, then accepting at that time has no downfall. The so-called "faithful wealth," some say that it refers to one's own faith and reputation, saying that it refers to speaking and showing that in detail. Some say that wealth refers to material wealth, saying that it refers to speaking of one's own faith and material wealth. The so-called "distinction of abandoning acceptance," that appears completely from the chapter on distinction. Wanting to speak of the chapter on request, saying "coming into hand is indeed obtaining," that is, coming into hand refers to the arising of wisdom that ascertains the meaning, therefore at that time one should know that the meaning is obtained. Saying "becoming near to viewing is the beginning of that," that is, going near to viewing is the beginning of coming into hand, from that time on that wealth is in hand. Here, the scripture is about the basic request for clothes, from how much does one obtain clothes? From when does it become in hand, or become near to viewing? It is said in this way. Accepting what has not become near is the application.
