If, by the power (of the previous garment), an influence is also placed on the later garment, then at that time it is necessary to bless or give away that garment. If it is not blessed or given away, then on the twelfth day it will become an offense of abandonment. But it is not considered so. Even so, this is not the tenth day here. For example, if a monk obtains a new monastic robe within nineteen days, then that monastic robe must be blessed, given away, or given to others within that twentieth day. If it is not blessed, not given away, or not given to others, then at dawn on the twenty-first day, it will become an offense of abandonment. Therefore, here it is distinguished in consideration of one's own tenth day, so it should not be distinguished here in consideration of the influence of the first tenth day. From this point onwards, it will be explained what kind of garment and within what size range blessing is appropriate, and in the opposite case, it will be judged as abandonment. The so-called "the edge of the Saiba-made Sanghati is two layers" means that if the Sanghati is made of Saiba, then the edge of the number of layers of that Sanghati is two layers, and no other layers can be added, that is its meaning. "Saiba" refers to (new clothes) that have not been used in one period. The so-called "the cushion is also" means that if the cushion is made of Saiba, then the edge of the number of layers of its size is also two layers. The so-called "the upper garment and the lower garment are single layers" means that if the upper garment and the lower garment are made of Saiba, then the edge of the number of layers of these two garments is a single layer. The scripture here says that if the monk is able to cut, alter, and sew, then the monk can make the Sanghati and the cushion into two layers with that garment, and the upper garment and the lower garment into a single layer. The so-called "making it double from (old clothes) used in a period" means that according to the two layers and single layer mentioned in the previous scriptures, if it is made from clothes that have been used in a period, then it should be made double. It is explained here that the Sanghati and the cushion should be made into four layers, and the upper garment and the lower garment should be made into two layers.

It is the meaning of the word. (Regarding) the clothes used for the seasons are small food and clothing, because (in the sutra) it says: From those three seasons, whichever season, whatever is used for the season. Regarding those made of towel material, there is no definite (statement) is saying: For the Dharma robes made of towel material, the order is not definite. Here the scripture says: For the towel material, how much should one want? (Regarding) what should be added especially for the worn-out and sparse? It is saying: For those that are not towel material, patches should also be added especially. When to add? Therefore, it says worn-out and sparse, it is referring to the Dharma robe. Worn-out means it is exhausted by itself. Sparse means it has become thin by being rubbed by door bolts, etc. What is needed? It means how much is needed, that is, the meaning of how much should be used. Especially, it is from the edge of the previously shown order. Add, it means patches. This sutra is excerpted from what is said in the Mother Sutra. (Regarding) it should not be added especially, it is saying: For those that are not made of cotton and other towel materials, that are not worn-out and not sparse, do not add more than the previously shown order, if you add, then everything that is added is an evil deed. It is also to be discarded, it is saying: If it exceeds ten of the added order, it will become a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. It is shown like this: For that which is added beyond the order, it should be discarded, the order as it is said will not be discarded. The reasonable one, after cleaning, should add it here. Without generating the thought of "thinking like this", it should not be taken off, it is saying: The previously added order, because it is the object of blessing, is reasonable. Reasonable means: In that reasonable order, until after cleaning by cutting, etc., for this place of the Dharma robe, it should be added again, before such a thought arises, it should not be taken off. It is shown like this: If a monk wants to take off in order to clean other orders of the Dharma robe, until cutting, etc.
