After accepting, what offense is committed if messages are sent back and forth? Sanghavasesa. If a bhikshu accepts a message more than many times and sends messages back and forth, what offense is committed? A gross offense, this is a condensed statement. Here, the word "times," the word "time" refers to a turn. Repeatedly familiarizing oneself with the meaning of "time" is "times." Which woman meets twice in a turn, that is "twice." Which one meets many times in a turn, that is "many times." More than twice is the third time, and for this it is also said Sanghavasesa. More than three times is the fourth time, and for this it is said a gross offense, therefore it is said "less than four times." "The time of strife is the time of decline," this sentence should be connected to "the time of harmony." Two things that should be in harmony, at the time of strife, is the time of the decline of harmony. "Strife" here should be understood as speaking harsh words, and then speaking harsh words again. For which strife causes the breakdown of friendship, or even if there is no strife, but if because of instigation, etc., the friendship breaks down, that is the decline of harmony. Here, the root is that a bhikshu gathers with the four last wives, adorns them with clothes and food, quarrels with each other, and occasionally meets, this is called the time of strife, and if reconciliation and harmony are made after the strife, it becomes Sanghavasesa. The word "time of strife" indicates the moment of strife. The word "after strife" indicates the past time, and even the first moment that has passed is also called by the word "strife." Having made a special designation of it, even if it is announced that it is not a wife under control, it is also connected to "the time of the decline of harmony," no matter which woman and which man are in harmony, if that woman is also controlled by that man, because she depends on that man because of being bought with wealth, etc., at what time on the road, etc., does he say, "This is not my wife, and I am not this woman's husband," then she is not a wife.

Even the act of announcing itself is a loss of harmony at that time. It is not just the act of fighting itself that loses it. Similarly, even if an announcement is made in a temple or elsewhere, it is harmony itself at that time. The very beginning and end of the fight, the act of severing ties, the act of throwing three stones, the act of abandoning rituals, the act of declaring someone not a wife, and the act of announcing itself are like things that have life. For those that have life, that is what has life, and its essence is itself. To become like living beings is like having life itself. How should it be given? If one wishes to give as much as there is life, and if one mediates, then the downfall will be as much. Similarly, if a monk mediates in as many instances as arise from these seven actions, beginning with the very start of a fight, then that many downfalls will occur for each vow. Among these, "the very start of a fight" means that the beginning of the fight itself has not yet completely ended, and is therefore synonymous with "in the fight itself." "End" refers to the time when the fight has completely ended. "The act of severing ties" means that "severing" refers to the shape of wood. The two who are to be given the wood will cut that wood in the middle, and say, "Just as these two pieces of wood are not connected to each other, so too are you two (referring to the two parties in the dispute)," this is called the act of severing ties. Some say that there is a type of grass called "Tilintilaka," and the two people cut it and say that, which is also called the act of severing ties. "The act of throwing three stones" means that the two people throw three stones in various directions and corners, and then say, "Just as these three stones do not meet each other, so too are you two (referring to the two parties in the dispute)." Others say that striking with the impact of many stones is also called the act of throwing three stones. "The act of abandoning rituals" means that urgent matters such as household chores or washing the legs of the stove are rituals, and abandoning them.
