Again, there are two types: "faith-based attention," such as the immeasurable ones; and "truth-based attention," such as the perception of impermanence. It should be understood that both of these samadhis are included in the non-regression that arises from cultivation. If one does not attain these and speaks by changing one's perception, then one will be judged as defeated. Here, speaking by changing one's perception without having attained its reason is established in terms of grossness. The reason for this is holding one's own characteristic, that is, hearing that acts in the desire realm and the wisdom that arises from thinking. This also has two types: subduing afflictions and not subduing afflictions. Here, it is taking subduing afflictions. Therefore, the reason for shamatha, that is, holding one's own characteristic, hearing that acts in the desire realm and the wisdom that arises from thinking, with ugliness and so on as the object, if one does not attain subduing afflictions, then showing oneself as possessing that subduing affliction by changing one's perception is gross. If one speaks of the nature of having that, then it is the same as not speaking of having that. The so-called "speaking of the nature of having that" refers to whoever possesses the superior human dharma, that person has that. Having the superior human dharma, that is, having the stream-enterer and so on, his dharma, such as obtaining the dharma of having a variegated cushion and so on, that person possesses that dharma, that is the nature of having that. Its object is the nature of having that itself. Whatever is said is speaking of the nature of having that itself. Speaking of the nature of having that itself is not not speaking of having that, but it is not not speaking of not having the superior human dharma, but it is only speaking. Thus it is taught: If a monk shows himself as possessing any dharma that is called the dharma of stream-enterer and so on, such as not living by non-humans and so on, then that monk is not showing himself as not having the superior human dharma, but is only showing in this way. Therefore, the scriptures say that many monks dwell in a monastery in a village without people,

If non-humans harass, then a monk who is from Stream-enterer to Arhat, if non-humans do not harass him, the monk changes his perception and forbearance, as well as desire, wisdom, thought, and view, saying: I am also in a solitary place without villages, therefore non-humans will not harass me, saying this will result in defeat. Similarly, like this, Many monks are invited to eat in various households, and there they are provided with brightly colored cushions. If a monk who is from Stream-enterer to Arhat, there brightly colored cushions are prepared for him, the monk changes his perception and forbearance, as well as desire, wisdom, thought, and view, saying: I was also invited to eat in that house, and there brightly colored cushions were prepared for me, saying this will result in defeat. Therefore, any monk who associates himself with any Dharma known as Stream-enterer, etc., will incur defeat. Saying "That exists," attributing one's own thoughts to others and revealing them, that is to say, if a monk sees gods, or the gods also see him, etc., when the monk thinks this himself and attributes "That exists" to others and attaches it, it will only result in a Sanghavasesa offense, because it is revealing one's own thoughts to others. This is taught: If a monk wants to show himself to possess superior human qualities through association that is shown to others, and says: The monk who sees gods, that exists, and also shows and attaches it to others in that way, even if there is a thought combined with oneself, it will result in a Sanghavasesa offense because it is shown to others. If saying "That exists" is showing it to others, then if it is also closely associated with oneself, will it also become like showing it to others? To dispel this doubt, it is said, "It is not closely associated," it is added to "oneself." If
