All is for the sake of the (monastic) community. What kind of friend? Therefore, it is said, "Let him rest," and it is connected to the word "hope." "One should take the prepared vessel" means: one should take from the tired monk those containers and utensils that are carried on the body. If one cannot go to the dwelling together, and it is not the time for food and drink, then one should wash the bowl, apply oil, give food, and check whether one returns, meaning: if the tired monk cannot quickly go to the dwelling with a friend, and it is not the time for food and drink to go to the dwelling, if one can go, then at that time the friend should quickly go to the temple, wash his bowl, apply oil, smear water on the empty ground, draw a small picture, give food, and check whether one returns. If it is time, one should take (food) to meet him, meaning: if the tired monk cannot go to the dwelling even at the time for food and drink, therefore, that friend should take his food and drink to meet him. Here, if it is noon, one should know to take a drink to meet him. The explanation of the pārājika of killing, the chapter called the explanation of the pārājika of killing, ends here. Now, in order to summarize what appears from the minor chapter of the pārājika of killing, it is said, "If one cuts off the hand of a pedestrian, it is a sthūlātyaya," to this, some say, "If one cuts off the hand with the intention of killing, it is a sthūlātyaya," this is an illogical statement, because in other acts of pārājika, sthūlātyaya has already been said. Therefore, if one cuts off the hand with the mere intention of cutting off the hand, then it is judged as a sthūlātyaya. "Setting fire to a forest" should also be connected to the word "sthūlātyaya." Forest refers to the temple area called forest, setting fire there is a sthūlātyaya. There are also three views on this: the area believed to have living beings, the area of doubt, and the area without living beings. Among them, the area known to have living beings has two aspects: the difference between many and few. There, even if one does not intend to kill living beings, but in general...

If one sets fire with the intention of burning many places, it is a sthūlātyaya. Like this, regarding all the places of living beings, he does not have the thought of killing, but because he considers other needs, he burns the forest, he does not consider living beings, therefore he acts without considering the places of many living beings. If one sets fire with the intention of burning a small number of living beings, it becomes a duṣkṛta, this is another downfall, because there is no intention to kill humans and so on. When there is an intention to kill living beings, then the essence of the downfall arises as it is in its own nature. If one kills a human, it is a pārājika. If one kills an animal, it is a patayantika. If one kills someone belonging to another realm, it is a sthūlātyaya. Regarding the aspect of doubt, one should also understand that the downfall is established as it is in its own nature. Regarding the aspect of non-existence, there is no downfall. Selling a hairy person should also be connected with a sthūlātyaya. Selling a human being is synonymous with a sthūlātyaya. Here, the scripture is that a newly ordained person seized a son of a meat-eater, from selling him to a dancer onwards, the Blessed One taught: A bhikṣu should not sell a hairy person, if he sells, it becomes a sthūlātyaya, and so on, as it is said up to here. If one offers stolen goods to a leader, it should also be connected with a sthūlātyaya. If one steals, it refers to thieves and so on. Offering thieves and so on to their leader. If he has the intention to kill, then when he completes it, it becomes a fault as it is in its own nature. The pārājika of killing is the occasion of minor matters, the pārājika of killing arises from the occasion of minor matters is complete. Now, in order to summarize what arises from the occasion of requesting the pārājika of killing, it is said, "The teacher instructs." If a bhikṣu indicates someone who should be killed, saying with the intention of killing, "Go here, go there," then the bhikṣu has instructed someone who should be killed for the purpose of killing, even if he has killed because he wanted to kill, because he instructed, he was killed by him, it becomes the fault of a pārājika.
