That too, if used without reservation, is like a combination. This is the concluding remark of "committing a grave offense." Because it is also said that without the intention to steal, one will not break the precept. Here, it should be known that it is with the intention to steal. It is not said that if the items are not complete, one commits a grave offense, but this is already established. Therefore, here it should be known that if the items are complete, it will become the actual situation of a grave offense. Because it is due to greed, and also because the word "same" is said. The scripture here is: If a monk despises a householder's clothes and steals them after examining them, what precept will he break? He will commit a grave offense. If the householder says, "Venerables, this garment is for you," and then the monk ascertains that it has been given, and uses it in the same way, he will also commit a grave offense. These are all summarized here. Even if one induces offerings with secret mantras and medicines, it is the same. This should be added after "If there is an intention to steal, it is like a combination." In this way, the meaning of the words here will appear: If one induces offerings with secret mantras and medicines with the intention to steal, it is like a combination. If the actual items are complete, one will commit a grave offense. This is like being cut off, so one will not commit a Pārājika offense. The scripture here is: If he compels with secret mantras, or with flowers and fruits, and the householder says, "This of mine is for you," and then the monk uses it with the understanding that it has been given, he will commit a grave offense. Those flowers and fruits that have become controlling medicines are included. Except for what is given for complete satisfaction, because that is wrong livelihood, there is no fault belonging to taking what is not given. For the sake of others is the actual situation, so-called "for the sake of others." For the benefit of others is for the benefit of others. The item for the benefit of others is for the benefit of others itself. The so-called "for the benefit of others itself" means that for the sake of others, the thief himself has not done anything,

If I were to steal, that would also fall under the category of substance, which is the action of substance. Offending the substance of a transgression belongs to the substance of a gross offense, that is its definition. Here, the text is: If a monk, without being instructed, steals for the sake of others, what offense does he incur? The answer is: He incurs a gross offense. It is also the same with stealing by speculation. Even if one steals by speculation, even if there are remaining limbs, it falls under the category of substance. For whom it becomes a defeat, for him it is a gross offense. For whom it becomes a gross offense, for him it is a misdeed, and so on. Speculation is of two kinds: Some are when, during debates, in order to prevent the other party's words from proceeding, one refutes with harsh words, such speculation becomes the substance itself, and does not fall under the category of substance. Some are when, at the very time of speculating, due to the power of thought, the idea arises that this is one's own. However, since this is associated with the doubt of a transgression, therefore, for him, it falls under the category of substance, but not the substance itself. For example, thinking: This is mine, or thinking: This is not possessed, or thinking: Lhabjin (ལྷ་སྦྱིན།) and others have given it to me, and so on. Such speculation, because this speculation is associated with the transgression arising from the idea of others possessing it, etc., therefore it is of the nature of substance. In the object of this sutra, there is no hesitation like recognition, because it is an object where any one is acceptable. Having determined that this is sinful, even so, one still proceeds to carry it out, therefore, this is only another object. If one wants to select good things to steal, it is also the same. It is connected to "belonging to the category of substance." If one thinks: Select, select, steal good things, then, for the one who wants to do so, for the things that are selected, it falls under the category of substance. For him, he will also commit a gross offense. Here, in order to hoard for stealing in other situations, the sutra shows that one commits a gross offense, in order to show that it will become another gross offense different from this, therefore this sutra is proclaimed. Like this, in other situations, before hoarding
