It is said (སྐད་བསྟན་ཏེ།). If a bhikkhu has not been allowed not to share, and has no intention of stealing, my property needs to be shared, not from another person's hand, removed from the sharing place, and the bhikkhu has not been allowed not to share, and has no intention of stealing. If another person's property needs to be shared, and I remove it from the sharing place, then at that time there is no offense of taking what is not given. In this way, from the distinction, these words appear: bhikkhus who have not been allowed not to share, my vessel needs to be shared, in order to share, handed over to the merchant from the sharing place, for those words that do not incur a downfall, bhikkhus, for those bhikkhus, there will be no downfall, and so on, it is said. The words that do not incur a downfall are understood in this way: if the bhikkhus think that these merchants are taking the minds of the sharers by giving shares, etc., then in connection with this, that bhikkhu has no intention of stealing, otherwise it is not. In any place, even if a bhikkhu who has been allowed not to share, if he takes another person's property from the sharing place, there are also words that do not incur a downfall. For this, if that bhikkhu allows his own property not to be shared, but does not distinguish another person's property, then at that time it can become a word that does not incur a downfall. At the time of distinction, then there is only fault. All of these should be understood as being covered by the absence of a stealing mind. This sutra, through distinction, explains in detail the meaning of the words that do not incur a downfall. Now, in order to explain that the vessel that needs to be shared is removed from the sharing place, it should be shared by whom, it is said, "Whoever takes it, it should be given by him from the vessel." Whoever takes it, is whoever takes it, which merchant takes it from the bhikkhu in order to take the vessel that needs to be shared, whoever takes it from the sharing place, is whoever takes it. The thing that whoever takes is whoever takes, is accepting.

That is it. What is it? It is that taking from that very vessel should be the act of giving a share. This is what is taught: Whichever merchant or the like takes from a monk a vessel from which a share should be measured, that very person should give a share to him. And the monk should hand over the vessel to another with this kind of thought, thinking, "This person will give me my share." He should hand it over in that way. In that case, the two statements that are known from the distinction as not falling into transgression are only reasonable. One is when a monk retrieves a vessel from a merchant's hand from the place of a share. The second is when a very old person retrieves it from a young person's hand. In the previous sutra, after expressing the intention of what the Blessed One said that those who have obtained permission not to levy a share from a monk will not fall into transgression by retrieving from the place of a share the property under the control of a merchant, now, in order to show the distinction, he said, "If another retrieves with permission, it is not not stealing." "With permission" means having obtained permission not to levy a share, that is, any authority has given permission saying, "You do not need to measure a share." "Permission," if another, such as a merchant, retrieves property from the place of a share for a person who has obtained permission not to levy a share, it is not not stealing, but it is only stealing. In that case, a monk should not retrieve a share that has reached the ground. It is said that if a monk causes a share that has reached the ground to exceed, it will become a serious offense. That is summarized in this sutra. The word "serious offense" mentioned here also arises from the fundamental basis, and it is not merely a misdeed. "Without permission, another should not retrieve" means that those who have not given permission for a monk not to levy a share, those who have given a share or offered gifts, etc., and do not levy a share, should not retrieve the monk's own share that needs to be measured. That is the occasion when merchants cause the monks' property to exceed, and a monk should not retrieve a share that has reached the ground. If a monk causes a share that has reached the ground to exceed, it will become a serious offense. In order to summarize the meaning of what was said, the sutra.
