When we make the two disappear, it should be known as stealing. If the things taken by these two disappear, then it is not stealing. Here the scripture is like this, the abbot and the acharya proceed by road, they stay together, and when the robes are handed over to the hands of the attendants, the stealing mind dwells near them, and they walk sparingly, walking like wolves, then every step will become an evil deed. If it appears before the eyes, the sin will be great. If it does not appear before the eyes, it should be said to be stealing, and the value should be calculated. Thus staying together, and the attendants stealing the robes of the acharya and the abbot with a stealing mind, they carry them, and it is dangerous to carry them from the depression to the plain, but the stealing mind dwells near them, etc. is what is said. How does it become stealing when going from places such as residences to places such as courtyards, and from there to there, and entering there? It should be known that only when the thief disappears there is it final, therefore there is no sin. How is the stealing of a boat established? Therefore, the boat is caused by land, large canals, and wide waters, etc., so it is said. Land, large canals, and wide waters are land, large canals, and wide waters. Therefore, when they disappear with the idea of stealing the boat, it is stealing. That is a metaphor, and the same ritual applies to all things such as wood and vessels. How does it become stealing in large rivers? Therefore, it is caused by the downstream direction, so it is said. What is in accordance with the direction of the water flow is the downstream direction. No matter how the boat is stolen, it is only stealing when it disappears with a stealing mind, not just moving from the location. How does it become stealing directly? Therefore, it is said that it is also when it disappears on the other shore directly. From which shore the boat is stolen, from there to the shore of doubt on the other shore, directly with the idea of stealing

If the edge (of the land) becomes invisible, that is stealing. If the other party's edge is still visible, how can it be considered stealing? Therefore, (the scripture) says, "For one different from this, reaching there." "For one different from this" means different from what was previously said, "becomes invisible," but refers to the state of being visible. "Reaching there" means that if one reaches the opposite side of the edge that is visible on the other party's edge, that is stealing, which is a summary statement. If it goes against the norm, how is it considered stealing? Therefore, (the scripture) says, "For one who goes against the norm, exceeding the boat mooring post." Going against the norm, with the intention of stealing, exceeding the boat mooring post, that is stealing. From which direction is the boat tied to a post and moored? At that time, if the boatman wants to steal the boat to the other side, and then pull it away from there, until it reaches the place where it is put into the water for movement, pulling it all the way to that direction, that is called the boat mooring post, and exceeding it is stealing. Regarding drawing water to or preventing water from reaching other people's fields, etc., how should it be understood as stealing? Therefore, (the scripture) says, "Regarding drawing water to or preventing water from reaching the end of all of another's activities, if, for the sake of one's own activities reaching completion, apart from increase, one intends to change it." When it is accomplished, that is stealing. What is accomplished? Therefore, (the scripture) says, "The end of one's own activities." The end of what? Therefore, (the scripture) says, "Drawing water or preventing water." Where? Therefore, (the scripture) says, "At the end of all of another's activities." For what? Therefore, (the scripture) says, "For that," that is, for the sake of one's own activities reaching completion. What kind of characteristic does the accomplishment have? Therefore, (the scripture) says, "Apart from increase," the use of increase does not include increase, that is, the advantages of the field, etc., that make the end of one's own activities accomplished, should not be counted here. Like this, the accomplishment resulting from drawing water or preventing water should be counted here. If the end of another's activities is also accomplished, then what is stolen at that time? Therefore, (the scripture) says, "When it changes," that is, when it changes from accomplishment.
