At the very moment when the precepts of a bhikshu arise, it should be known that he immediately becomes the preceptor who performs the actions. The preceptor who gives residence becomes a preceptor at the time when dawn breaks. The reading preceptor should be said to have different characteristics, such as reciting a verse three times, and so on. If the abbot himself achieves the meaning, does he also become a preceptor? It is not so. How does it become so? When requesting an abbot, upon promising to accept, then he becomes one. When is the abbot requested? At the time of the third request of promise and vow. If one promises to accept, then what is it? Therefore, it is said, "Abbot." The meaning of "becomes" is that the abbot himself becomes, that is, it is a synonym for becoming an abbot. It is not that one does not become an abbot until one becomes a novice or until one is fully ordained, but only at the time of promising to accept the abbot. If the meaning of the near-perfection of a novice, etc., is achieved, then it is said that one becomes a preceptor, etc. For the sake of achieving what meaning? Therefore, it is said that it is achieved in the third part of the last part. Saying "expression" means that the expression makes the meaning of the near-perfection of a novice, etc., expressed, that is, in which word the meaning is repeatedly expressed and repeated, that is called expression here. In that expression, the meaning of the near-perfection of a novice, etc., is achieved, therefore the preceptor, etc., are achieved. Among the three expressions, in which part of which expression? Therefore, it is said, in the third part of the last part. What is the last, the later expression, which is the last expression, the third part of that, which is the third part, it should be known that in that part the meaning of the near-perfection of a novice, etc., is achieved. Thus it is taught that if the meaning is completely achieved only in the expression, but one does not know in which expression and in which part of the expression, therefore it is said, in the third part of the last expression. In order to illustrate the previously taught meaning with a metaphor, for example

When declaring another, it should be said, "Like a novice." The word "another" here refers to anyone who makes a monk into a novice. The so-called "time of declaration" refers to the time of declaring that other who makes one a novice, that is, the time of bestowing the novice vows. At this time, one has already become a novice, which is synonymous with becoming a novice, that is, one should know that the novice vows have been accomplished. If asked when one should know this, it is after "I take refuge in the novice for as long as I live," and before declaring the word "Acharya." Therefore, after this, one should say, "Please Acharya, accept me," and should not say, "Please the Sangha, accept me." If asked whether the meaning of the accomplishment of the Khenpo should also be understood in the same way, the answer is: Here, one should say, "Finally, it is the meaning of the Khenpo," and connect it with "accomplishment." The so-called "here" refers to the time of declaring another. The so-called "finally" refers to the last category, therefore, one has already accomplished the meaning of the promised self-nature Khenpo. At this time, one should say, "Khenpo, please Khenpo, ordain me as a novice and a monk," and should not say "Sangha Khenpo" or "Acharya Khenpo." In short, one should understand only from the meaning of the third part, and not from the number of words. For example, at the time when the novice vows have not been bestowed, the meaning is divided into two parts, that is, taking refuge and promising to become a novice. However, it can be divided into three parts, that is, taking refuge is one part. "I take refuge in the novice for as long as I live" is the second part. "Please Acharya" is the third part. Although the final declaration has not been completely finished, the meaning of the third part has been completely accomplished, because most of the things have been completed. For all karmas, one should look at it in this way. Because the meaning of giving a dwelling and reciting have already been explained elsewhere, giving a dwelling is because one only stays for one night.
