If entering (the Sangha) will cause individual confessions to occur? Therefore, because the guests before the offering were not invited, (if a bhikkhu) takes and eats prepared and edible things from the house of offering, except for garlic, radishes, and turnips, it is said. As long as it is a unified offering, it is one family in this Sangha. Here, "family" is only a symbol. If there is no complete acceptance, and bhikkhus and others support disciples and others, this is the ritual. Accepting the precepts of the training with the reason of offering, if eating prepared things, thus, this is the connection. Should everything be confessed? This is the meaning of "not inviting before the offering." From the offering of the training, if invited before, and giving the training and then eating, there is no downfall. Is everything prepared eaten? Therefore, it is said that except for garlic, radishes, and turnips, there is no downfall in eating them. This is too greedy. If someone breaks the special training and enters (the Sangha), what is said is the establishment of downfall. Breaking the training and entering (the Sangha) for individual confession, this is the third. A forest patrol bhikkhu should be appointed. Here, one should not trust others, so one should rely on the bhikkhu in this way. To show the reason for his appointment, he should patrol within half a yojana. If there is fear, wild animals should be tamed. A blue flag should be erected. A leaf wine pot should be placed at the crossroads. Otherwise, it is white. If there is a need, servants and friends should also be given to him, it is said. If there is someone seeking forest patrol, it should be given. Knowing is the main thing, this is the one who makes knowing the main thing. What is known? Therefore, it is said not to patrol the forest, for the time being my purpose has been achieved, but to protect the Sangha and the donor from harm, what can this person do for me?

Merely considering oneself satisfied with actions that are self-fulfilling, taking food and eating it in a place of fear, this will become a transgression here. As it is said in the scriptures, the monastery of the Sangha is known as a place of suspicion, known as a place of fear, known as a place of dread due to various fears. Similarly, if one strives for protection, or enters another place of fear, it will be called a transgression, therefore, one must understand the meaning of "forest" here by fully knowing the absence of fear itself. It is only becoming a monastery itself, not referring to dense trees. If one asks, whose action is this? The answer is, if one takes food and eats it in a monastery outside the Sangharama, one will commit a transgression. From the monastery to the boundary of one Yojana, it is the common dwelling place of monks such as towns and Sangharamas. Outside of that, separately taking food and drink, wherever one eats them, that is the meaning. If one strives to protect, it is only half, meaning that because there is no fear, one protects the monastery, at that time if one eats food and drink, it is only half, because one is not satisfied, one will commit a transgression. Here, the basis of the previous Sutra and this Sutra is, if a monk takes food and drink with his own hands outside the Sangharama and eats it, and also prevents thieves, and also allows donors and patrons to enter the Sangharama peacefully, what transgression will he commit? The answer is, he will commit a transgression, this is the basis of the previous Sutra. If one walks and eats in the middle of a wasteland, what transgression will one commit? The answer is, one will commit a transgression. Even in a place far from fear, the word "also" is said because "also half" is said to follow the eating. For the three matters that need to be confessed separately, because it is not mentioned that one knows oneself, there will also be a transgression if one takes it through letters or by sending others.

It should be understood in this way. The fourth is the separate confession arising from the examination of the forest. The separate confessions are completed. In any case, the lower garment must be made round, and it should be worn in that way. Among them, "dwelling" means dwelling equally. Do not be too upturned. Do not be too inclined, meaning do not only think of "roundness", but also think of "becoming excellent", etc. In order to understand the connection with others, the word "also" is used. Do not stretch out like an elephant's trunk. Among them, "side" means one side, and the following content should also be understood in connection with this. The so-called "like an elephant's trunk" refers to those sides that have not been cut off from the mouth and the full edge. Do not fold upwards, meaning fold and abide above the navel. Do not protrude outwards like the crown of a snake's head, this form refers to the order of internal connection with the front, and the form of not folding upwards should be understood. The so-called "do not dwell like a pillar" means that this is the form of dwelling on the upper side, and it is not related to the order from the throat to the outside. In any case, the robes should be worn like the first three, among which the robes refer to the upper garment and the monastic skirt. For the blessing of the lower garment, etc., these forms should also be understood. The so-called first three refer to dwelling roundly, not being too upturned, and not being too inclined. One should be very cautious and go to other dwellings, which is closely related to thorough observation, that is, wearing it well. Shave the hair. Do not let the eyes wander. Raise the neck slightly and look forward, meaning do not let the function of the eyes wander. In order to avoid the thought of wanting to see everything because of the uncertainty of whether it will be so, the neck is slightly raised and looking forward. Do not use the posture of covering the head. Do not deceive, that is, from posture to deception.
