Acting frivolously and wantonly, harm and dwelling, disrespect and lack of practice arise from the root. Thus it is said. Among them, "holding" means holding the Dharma robes and the remains of the alms bowl. "Separation" means separation from the Dharma robes. "Destroying the seed cluster" means destroying the seed cluster that has not been allowed. "Discarding impurities in the direction of green grass" means discarding feces, etc. in the direction where there is green grass. "Destroying trees" means placing things on trees higher than the height of one person, these are the trainings. "The root of the trainings" means not abandoning the novice. Whoever transgresses these commits a mental offense. Here, in what way, those are all encompassed by the word "etc.". In order to indicate that meaning, here the root of signs, etc. is declared. Here, the word "root" should be applied one by one. Arising from the root of signs, arising from the root of begging, arising from the root of containers, arising from the root of frivolity and wantonness, arising from the root of desire, arising from the root of oppression, arising from the root of disrespect, arising from the root of non-practice.

It arises from the basis of abandonment. Among them, the phrase "taking the mark of ordination" refers to temporarily taking it. Therefore, for non-Buddhists, just as householders hold the mark of householders, they have already gone beyond taking the mark of ordination. Therefore, for them, it becomes a transgression to be confessed. Holding or causing others to hold unsuitable requisites, such as robes that are too small or too large, and unapproved nail trimming, as well as disheveled appearances, hair cut unevenly, and later practices such as shaving hair belonging to the inner path, all of these are in accordance with the side of taking the mark. Carrying an unsuitable bowl and wandering for alms, as a mark, this also becomes the mark of other ordained people, and holding a bowl similar to the mark of householders should also be known as exceeding the proper taking of the mark. Made from other materials, and smaller or larger than the prescribed size, and holding white ones, all of these are in accordance with the side of taking the mark. What arises from the basis of begging vessels refers to things like śālisāra and silver, which are in accordance with the aspect of taking what is not given. What arises from the basis of begging refers to begging for things like robes. What arises from the basis of vessels refers to things like needle cases that are made by others. What arises from the basis of enjoyment refers to things like selling food, which is the side of eating at the wrong time. What arises from the basis of frivolity includes running, jumping, playing in the water, etc., as well as singing, dancing, the sound of musical instruments, flower garlands, perfumes, holding colors, tall mattresses, and large mattresses, all of which are in accordance with these aspects. All of these belong to the high corners of having houses built, which is in accordance with the side of wanting to build houses and large houses. For the side of desire for a home, therefore, merely entering into the object of desire itself is in accordance with the side of the decline of properly taking ordination. Emission of semen
