It is prescribed to do so without abandoning it until the warm season. It is said that a man's suffering arises from hunger and that his desire is small. For a monk, if he has not left any leftovers and eats only once, and if he has already examined it, he commits a wrong action if he gets up from his seat and eats again and again. It is a downfall caused by hunger. If one speaks of a food that does not belong to the Sangha and causes displeasure, will it be a downfall? Therefore, the word "garlic" is mentioned, and it should be connected with the word "eat." As for those cases where any amount is acceptable, it should be understood because it is not specifically stated. Because of illness, there is no downfall. For onions and garlic, because it is specifically stated, it should be known that one will commit a wrong action by obtaining them in what manner. Eating turnips, etc., is a wrong action because the smell is small. If one speaks of a food that does not belong to the Sangha and causes displeasure, it will be a downfall. Now, from this point on, three downfalls caused by impurity will be explained. In order to explain the first of these, it is said, "Do not wear underwear." In order to exclude not wearing inferior clothes that can be used, this is the reason. The so-called "impurity" refers to clothes that have become unclean and are noticed by others. Therefore, it means that one should abandon the lower body clothes that have become impure like that. In order to completely avoid the fault of saying so, one should wear underwear. For the door of the genitals, if it is not covered, one will commit a downfall. The so-called "sewing it with thread and placing it" refers to the underwear. The teachings of these two sutras should be modified from fragmentary teachings until "should be modified" is said. The so-called "at that time, it should be washed and modified frequently" should be connected with "that underwear." For the second fundamental to be learned, one should praise, the so-called "water clothes are also," the word "also" should be connected with "not wearing." For whose body becomes wet, for whom does not wear water clothes, this is its meaning. From below the pubic hair, not covering the part up to the kneecap of the knee is fundamental. Others from below the neck to above the spine, the part of the body up to the throat does not

Sāpala is an offense. Here it is said that many nuns, together with lay women, bathe in a river. When they bathe, the women point with their fingers and say, "So-and-so nun's breasts are like this, so-and-so's belly is like a jackal, so-and-so's waist is thick, so-and-so's thighs are like an elephant's trunk," speaking of the various parts of the body and private parts in many ways. Therefore, this precept is established. It should be known that this refers to the fault of not covering the upper body. This is understood through the distinction of "water garment and bathing cloth." The water garment has always been used by outsiders. Therefore, the large summer cloth garment was not taught to the nuns, because that is already sufficient. "Those two should be held" refers to the needle and the water garment. One should also hold them in order to practice the upavāsa vows. Next, it will be said that holding a needle will lead to the third pācittiya offense. Therefore, it is mentioned to have the laundryman wash the clothes. It means to entrust one's own blessed old clothes, the robes and cushions that are suitable for washing, to the laundryman for washing. A more detailed distinction about this should be understood after following the "Nissaggiya Pācittiya of entrusting to the laundryman." Because there are two kinds of faults, it is established for similar faults. Here it is said that twelve groups of nuns, having seen harm in a dream, had their clothes stained by impurity, so they entrusted them to the laundryman for washing. The laundryman took them and washed them together with the clothes of the householders, and as a result, those white household clothes that were stained became unclean and unpleasant. The householders asked the laundryman, "What stained our clothes?" The laundryman said, "I took the nuns' clothes to wash, and because they came into contact with those clothes, these clothes were stained." Hearing these words, the householders ridiculed and
