It is reasonable to argue for the sake of refuting things. To wrongly argue about the suchness of things, and to abandon, fall, and not give what is in accordance with karma, saying whether it is Dharma or not, and so on, like this, to wrongly argue about the nature of the suchness of things, this is the first cause of strife. For example, acting on the form of things also causes disputes, why did you take or give, or say that the work was not arranged, such a dispute is also the suchness of things? Is it not suchness? Is this what should be done? Or is it not what should be done? If someone intervenes like this, then, such a kind is not included here, so it should not be known. Abandoning means placing advice and so on, abandoning others, this is the second cause of strife. Because the reason is not advised, this dispute is stated. Falling and having the nature of falling is the third cause of strife, because falling from there causes disputes. Not giving what is in accordance with karma means not giving what is in accordance with karma, such as requests and so on, this is the fourth cause of strife. Therefore, the saying that disputes arise because of actions will appear. What arises from the first cause is pacified by treating the cause as one, meaning that the first cause, which is the cause of wrongly arguing about the suchness of things, for the cause of arising strife, treating it as a whole, it can be pacified, that is, it can be subdued through direct perception, which is also the meaning. Whoever it is, investing in finding self-nature again, should observe others. The so-called "whole" means understanding through certainty, for anything, if there is a certain understanding, then that thing is a whole, meaning that by generating certainty, that thing can be completely done. What arises from the second cause is realized by giving this and purity, meaning that for the cause of abandoning, that is, strife, saying "one", by giving this and purity, it can be pacified, subduing through mindfulness, and subduing through non-intoxication, is also the same. What arises from the third cause

That which is called "giving by combining rectification and definite holding" refers to the cause of dispute arising from the term "having fallen", pacifying "rectification" through confession; and "giving by combining with definite holding" refers to combining with the certainty belonging to the inevitable arising. That is because giving enables one to seek its own nature. Finally, "giving to give" refers to rectifying the dispute arising from the cause of disharmony by giving to give. If harmony is given, making it harmonious, then the dispute will naturally be pacified. So, how can one pacify the dispute by making it a whole, as it is said? Therefore, the sutra says that if the two parties themselves cannot do it, then it should be properly accomplished by those in the assembly. It means that if the two parties in the dispute cannot settle the dispute themselves, then the matter should be properly accomplished by those in the assembly and brought to a consensus. Here, pacifying the dispute is necessary, so the sutra says that it is not reasonable to do it oneself. Then, if many disputes arise, why does the sutra only use the word "two parties"? Although this is the case, since the dispute exists in two aspects, the word "two parties" is used. So, by what kind of people in the assembly should it be accomplished? Therefore, the sutra says that it should be accomplished by the monks. What kind of monks? Therefore, the sutra says that it should be accomplished by the contented ones. Who is content? Therefore, the sutra says that it is the two parties, that is, the two parties in the dispute. How many people? Therefore, the sutra says that it should be accomplished by one or more people. It should be known that the word "or more" here can be omitted, meaning that one or more people are also acceptable. Then, what kind of one or more monks should be made to satisfy the two parties? Therefore, the sutra says that the impartial ones should be counted. It means that it should be known that one or more people who are located between the two parties do not belong to either party, but are impartial. It is also like this
