It is called "disagreement," meaning different falls. If you say, what is the inconsistency of sin? Therefore, it is said "from the category," here the scripture refers to, from the basis of discussion, the monk's fall is also divided into similar and dissimilar categories. What is the similar fall of a monk? What is the dissimilar fall? If a lay follower (Upasaka) commits a Parajika offense, then it is of the same category as the Parajika offense. Everything else is of a different category. Sanghavasesa is the same as Sanghavasesa. Prayascittika is the same as Prayascittika. Pratidesaniya is the same as Pratidesaniya. Duskrita is the same as Duskrita, so it is said. Here it should be known that Duskrita is autonomous. Any sin related to other falls, by confessing that fall, that sin is also confessed. Isn't it necessary to be liberated from it? Therefore, it is said "if not, from the fall," meaning, in the category of confessing in front of oneself, for the fall without inconsistency of sin, one should confess in front of the person with inconsistency of sin. Here the scripture refers to, from sporadic examples, can a monk confess a fall in front of similar offenders? Lay followers are not allowed. If such conditions exist, it can be treated as a different category, it is allowed, so it is said. From abandonment, it means, from abandonment and separation, from prior arrangement, it means, from the Prayascittika, abandon that thing, and the abandoned object must be separated for one night, these two must be arranged in advance. If one confesses, one can recover. It is said "from renunciation," meaning, from not doing internal things. On that night, do not bless other robes, one should stay in a place without robes that can be blessed. If these two are completed in advance, after confession, one can recover from the abandoned Prayascittika. If one blesses other robes, one will not be separated from what can be blessed. Belonging to the remaining serious offense, for the five assemblies and everything else, it means, the serious offense related to Sanghavasesa, from the five assemblies etc. belonging to that scope.

All transgressions can be restored through confession. If it belongs to a grave offense among the impure transgressions, and has not been adjudicated by the Vinaya, then, if it belongs to a grave offense related to that transgression, and has not been adjudicated by the Vinaya, the foundation of its location is nearing completion, and it has been transferred to another boundary, then all monks belonging to that boundary, more than five, that is, six monks, can be restored through confession. Minor offenses are restored by four monks, etc. That is to say, if it belongs to a minor offense among the impure transgressions, then all monks belonging to that boundary who have not been adjudicated by the Vinaya, such as four monks, can be restored through confession. How does one know the grave and minor offenses belonging to the Sanghavasesa offenses? Because there is no special distinction made for them, one confesses in relation to this, and performs other rituals for one of them. Grave and minor offenses themselves can also be distinguished by the number of transgressions. For example, finding limbs that are not suitable for use in a water dropper is a minor offense. Being unable to perform physical activities to sustain oneself, and stealing many valuable items is also a grave offense. Here, the scripture is about the question posed to the Blessed One Shakyamuni by the tamers, asked by the venerable Ananda: Venerable, how does one confess gross offenses? Ananda, there are four types of gross offenses: grave offenses arising from committing a root offense, minor offenses arising from committing a root offense, grave offenses arising from committing a Sanghavasesa offense, and minor offenses arising from committing a Sanghavasesa offense. Ananda, grave offenses arising from committing a root offense should be confessed in front of six or more monks within the boundary. Minor offenses arising from committing a root offense should be confessed in front of four bhikkhus outside the boundary. Grave offenses arising from committing a Sanghavasesa offense should be confessed in front of five bhikkhus outside the boundary. Minor offenses arising from committing a Sanghavasesa offense should be confessed in front of one bhikkhu within the boundary. Finally, one must strive for this.
