It is ours. For those who do not give up the observation form of common offenses, the offenses arising from the precepts should be removed and confessed, and it should be known that these are done to all the Sangha. Here, the Vinaya says that the bhikkhu should sit on that seat and say: Venerable ones, I have committed a Sanghavasesa offense. If he says it, that is good; if he does not say it, concealment will occur from that day on. That bhikkhu said: Venerable ones, I have committed an offense, up to that word. What should be confessed individually is the people gathered in that place, this sentence should be connected with the word "all". It means that when it is necessary to know in that place, all those who belong to those who live nearby must be gathered without omission, but not those who belong to the Sangha. Just as it is said in the scriptures, after entering the residence, no matter what, in front of the bhikkhus who are seen, even to those who live in rooms and other places, they should be made to hear and declare it as such. If this is done, even if some people do not hear because of sleeping or being busy, there is no fault, this is the way the ritual abides. The basis of the residence mentioned here is an example of the place of assembly. No matter in which direction the bhikkhus gather, it should be avoided to let novices and others who should not hear, hear. This should also be understood for those who live in monasteries and other places for a slightly longer period of time. So, how can this be known? Therefore, it was said, "Venerable ones, I have committed an unreasonable reprehensible act that should be confessed individually, that Dharma should be confessed individually", because what is done must be inferior, and because it is the cause of gathering food, it is a reprehensible place. Like this, for those who have entered in order to practice the undefiled Dharma, it is unreasonable to run to that reprehensible place. This is said to be the act of individual confession of reciting lamentations, not confession. How to confess...

It is similar to saying that one should confess in front of someone because of having committed a transgression that leads to a fall. That is not like reciting a mantra. One should know that it is not like reciting a mantra three times for one's own purpose; reciting it once is enough. Because the mantra is to be recited three times in front of another person, one must squat in front of that person and join one's palms together. This is certain, and this is prohibited here. If one resolves to abstain from it with the mind, it is sufficient. This means that for things that are not spoken, in order to show impurity, the goal is to desire the death of others for the sake of wealth, etc. For these, if one resolves to abstain from evil deeds with the mind, one should not do it even for a purpose. Thinking in this way, from the cessation arises the thought of turning back, and one will be able to cease from falling. Here, in some texts inquired by neighbors, it is said, "Half cease, do not cease, cease." This is the meaning. To cease from other actions is the confession related to this. This means that if one ceases from mental transgressions, from other actions, then the confession related to this is sufficient, because purity and impurity arise from the basis of thought. If there is no cessation, then confessing here will not have any effect. Here the text says, "Will you cease from now on? Cease." This means that in order to recover from falling, expressing cessation in words is a praise. Even so, it is said that one can recover from falling through thought, but not through the act of cutting off. The antidote for bodily discord is this: to correct and suffer for all modes of behavior. Regarding the transformation of the body, saying "cease" without autonomy is to acknowledge confession. To whom should one confess? Therefore, it is said to confess to that unique person who does not have different views. The word "that" indicates the distinctions previously shown, such as abiding in self-nature, and not having different views. The word "unique" excludes many. In this way, it shows that confession to one person can be successful. Like what is said about abiding in self-nature, possessing the complete monastic vows, having the same precepts, and not having different views, one should confess to such a person. Should one confess to everyone? Therefore, it says, offenses not
