Garlic and ginger, as well as coltsfoot and white mustard, etc. What are the tree trunks? They are sandalwood and white sandalwood, cedar and red pine, as well as ash and jujube, etc. What are the leaves? They are vasaka and neem, as well as patola and nimba, and the leaves of saptaparna, etc. What are the flowers? The flowers are vasaka and nimba, as well as haritaki and nagakesar, and the stamens of lotus, etc., it is said. Those stamens are only symbolic, and most of the flowers are not widely used for medicinal or edible purposes, so others are collected separately. What are the fruits? They are haritaki and amalaki, as well as bibhitaki and nalisha, and pippali, etc., it is said. After explaining the roots, trunks, leaves, flowers, and fruits, it is said that other things that can sustain life should also be held, so it is said. To show that, it is a hut. For example, wood glue and resin, roasted barley flour and beeswax, wood oil, etc. For example, the word "for example" is to give examples for the things below as well. Roasted barley flour is roasted barley flour. Beeswax is beeswax. Wood oil refers to the wood oil of trees other than roasted barley flour, which comes from trees. Colorant refers to, for example, sesame and roasted barley flour tree, as well as turmeric and barley, and barley net and vasaka, and ash colorant, etc., it is said. Salt refers to, for example, rock salt and alkaline salt, as well as red salt and sea salt, and rock salt, etc., it is said. Medicinal juice refers to, for example, mango tree and neem tree, as well as bitter neem tree and acacia tree, and jambu tree, etc., it is said. It shows how much is enough. After washing, it is also connected to showing how much is enough. Washing once without rubbing means that because it has not been touched, it is untouched. Showing the medicinal juice in that way means it is in that way. The same is true for dried grass, etc. Saying medicine does not mean that poison is not included, it means that poison should also be known to be included in that medicine. That is, to hold on to life. "That" refers to that poison medicine. Here, the scripture says: Whatever ashes are made from burning sugarcane trees and sugarcane are to be held on to for life. This is also stated in the Smaller Treatises. The dung and urine of calves that are nourished by mother's milk are referred to as "that." "That" refers to that poison medicine. Here, the scripture says: Whatever "that" is beneficial for poison, such as dung and urine, which are called poison medicines, as mentioned above, are beneficial for those who have been poisoned. "Ashes" refers to the ashes of trees such as the Katza tree, the Kabikara tree, the Ashvattha tree, the Udumbara tree, and the Nyagrodha tree. "That" refers to the remedy for poison. The earth is best four fingers below the surface, because the wind, sun, and other elements harm the surface. Here, the scripture says: Monks, the so-called poison medicines are dung, urine, ashes, and earth. Among them, dung refers to the dung of calves that have not been weaned for long and are nourished by mother's milk, and urine also refers to the urine of those calves, and so on. This is what is stated in the scripture. Obtain it from a faithful layperson. "That" refers to that poison medicine. This is known from the Smaller Treatises, and it can also be obtained through the giving of others. One should obtain it through the giving of others, that is, one should also obtain it through the giving of a faithful layperson. The medicine that is the nature of meat is also the same, and one should also obtain the medicine that is the nature of meat through the giving of others. Obtain everything from the butcher's place. Not only raw meat, but all meat medicines should be obtained by a faithful layperson from the butcher's place. That is what should be done, that is, obtaining meat medicine should be done from the butcher's place. Do not doubt that it is not something that should be done, that is the meaning. If, due to special circumstances, medicine made from barley is needed, then barley from the dung of an old cow is sufficient, and other barley should not be eaten. "For that" refers to for the medicine made from barley. "Other" refers to other barley. If fermented beverages are strained through a sieve, then it is not other, referring to untimely.
