I, when the dragon king Somamedhi sends down hail and frost, when lightning strikes, grasses also grow with poison. At that time, monks should walk, and if monks are injured or unable to walk, the Blessed One instructed: One should carry medicine made from saliva. One should also carry shoes with broken straps. Carrying these leather shoes is famous in the north in this way. Here, some people, like leather shoe makers, say that medicine made from saliva and carrying leather shoes is because it is produced from the saliva of dragons, produced from causes, produced from that, and made by worldly people. Another way is that shoes with broken straps are allowed. Here, there is also a different meaning because it is another way. Doing a little comfort to someone, this is also the meaning of permission here. In places where water freezes, hats and shoes with buckles are also allowed, meaning that in whatever place water freezes, in whatever place there is water, one should carry these things. Because there is no other obvious reliance, and there is no additional reasoning essence here, one should know that in order to protect the meaning of the reasoning essence, one should be upright. At other times, in order to give other downfalls, if the downfall is without hail, like summer silk clothes, because there is no water, it should be placed. For the purpose of healing diseases, these are close to necessary. It should be known that all prescribed transgressions are included in permission. One should not wear leather shoes in the presence of a lama, just as the Blessed One rebuked the monk who was walking in leather shoes in front of him, and also rebuked the behavior of the monks, therefore this sutra was made. One should not wear any limbs of lions, tigers, bears, elephants, or swift horses on the body, even a little bit, the meaning here is that even a little bit, the text here is: from subtle things...

Lions and other fierce wild animals also gather here. They shoot ordinary elephants and wild horses, as well as other wild beasts, with (bows and arrows). Regarding the word "they," the scripture here says that elephants, tigers, bears, and intelligent elephants, as well as lions, etc., shoot. Do not wear shoes. Wipe them with a damp cloth to remove dust. Regarding the word "they," it refers to shoes. Regarding the word "should hold it," "it" refers to the wiping cloth. Regarding the word "should sew them," it refers to those shoes. Unattractive objects should be placed in secluded places, meaning that all unattractive objects, such as mending bowls, should be handled in secluded places, in order to emphasize not fully accepting (unattractive objects). For that purpose, awls and leather should be carried, but not net knives. Regarding the word "for that purpose," it refers to sewing those shoes. The scripture here says that awls and leather should be carried, but not net knives. Do not wear wooden shoes in other people's homes and places other than water sources. Also, do not make (shoes) from bamboo boards, munja grass, vetiver, and bark. Nor with rope. It is said, "not a windy person," meaning that a person who is not windy should not wear shoes made of rope. For patients with windy diseases, nails should be nailed to prevent rotting, and this practice should be followed here. This is mainly for the same meaning, not for treating the disease. Therefore, this prescribed offense is not invalid, because patients are allowed to do so, so here, bamboo boards and other items usually lead to poverty and are very discordant, while wooden shoes are very bad. Therefore, here is its summary. In other people's homes, if there are no other (cushions), one should sit on leather.

The matter concerns leather. This comes from the womb. Leather that has become shoes is not leather itself. Therefore, in the rosary ceremony, it should not be regarded as a non-place. In order to benefit the eyes, one should hold a bearskin, and regarding this matter, the scripture here is: It is permitted to take the skin of a bear. As a mat under the feet, it refers to the bearskin that has been taken. At the door of the Buddha's cleansing room, it refers to the bearskin owned by the Buddha, and it is permitted for monks or others to lay it at the door of the cleansing room. Wearing shoes should be connected to the phrase "in order to benefit the eyes." Those with wind disorders can also sit and sleep on the bearskin. All those with hemorrhoids are the same, referring to laying it under the feet, etc., and here it also mentions those with wind disorders, as well as sitting and lying together. The scripture here comes from the Cullavagga: Shoes should be laid out. Therefore, it is permitted for monks with hemorrhoids to hold bearskin shoes, following this statement, and it is also laid out under the feet. Here it is said to be an implement. It should be connected in that way, referring to the bearskin. Touching the hair is beneficial, referring to the hair of the bearskin. Monks show the hair of the bearskin downwards, and the Blessed One said: The hair should be shown upwards, which has been summarized by this. Even multiple layers of shoes should be understood as beneficial, and should be connected to "beneficial." Even if there is only one layer, it is beneficial in all ways, so it should be understood as having excellent wisdom. Even placing one on top of many, referring to placing a bearskin on top of multiple layers like leather, it should also be understood as beneficial, and should be connected to the previous undifferentiated state. The scripture here is: If many layers cannot be found
