That which is called, by whose name it is permissible, even if it is in another place, it will not be damaged. That to whom it is permitted, that is very permissible, it will be damaged. Is it only at the time of death that it is damaged? Therefore, it is said, "If known," that is, if it is known that he is dead. That which is called, "The self permits this," refers to who permits this permitted thing. That which is called, "One should not take possession of what is abandoned," refers to the Sangha or an individual. That which is called, "It should be abandoned to a Bhikshu," refers to not to the Sangha. One should not do it for what is not clear either. That which is called, "If not given, then take," refers to the abandoned clothes, if not given, because the abandoner will abandon, therefore it should be taken back. That which is called, "It can also be taken by force," refers to because of following "not given," therefore the word "also" is said. Clothes stained with dirt should be washed and worn. That which is called, "Rubbing with flour," refers to enjoying completely clean clothes. That which is called, "Making it rough with oil," refers to if clothes are stained with oil, they should be made rough with ash water and worn. Those are to remove unpleasantness, not for storage. Because it is untrue, some here think that storage is related to food. When it rains, without a cover, one should not wear the Sangha's clothes, it should be connected to "should not wear." That which is called, "One should not wear it at the time of washing, dyeing, making bowls, and cutting trees, etc.," refers to not wearing the Sangha's clothes.

Therefore, these were said. 'Do not give to one who is with an admonisher' means that if someone comes to take something together with a person who is not an admonisher, it should not be given, meaning that the thing is not the owner's and will be given or transferred to someone else. For the owner, the reason for this should be understood. 'Do not take what a madman takes from a non-relative and their house' means that whatever a madman takes from the house of someone who is not their relative, or anything else, is what they have taken. Here, the principle is that whatever sister, brother, or daughter openly gives from their own house, it can be taken from there. From where should it not be taken? From places where parents, etc., are not open, such as 'taking from...' etc., which has already been said here. For those who are close and related, whether it is given or taken by a relative, it is trusted, mainly referring to parents, etc. For things that are obvious and not obvious, they are distinguished here, so it should be understood in this way. When a monk asks a Brahmin's daughter, one should understand this sutra and the two sutras that follow. 'It can be taken from an expelled son' means that wealth can be taken from the hand of a son who has been temporarily expelled by his father, because the son is no longer the master of his father's house, so it is thought. Things taken back from the cemetery are also allowed.

The reason for saying "should not be divided" is that the property of the stupa should be obtained by the Sangha. For example, the relics of the Blessed One, etc. Since everything is a different offering, the Blessed One and these offerings should all be regarded as possessions, therefore they should not be divided. The so-called "source" refers to the actual income without distinction, such as fields, annual rent, monasteries, etc.; as well as the income from markets, etc., the income from property; and the sources of income that are determined not to be exhausted, as well as others, such as cattle and buffaloes, etc.; and the clergy and jesters, etc. also eat these things. The so-called "root" refers to the fact that food other than roots, fruits, and molasses is divisible. Apart from that, those things that are offered for the purpose of food, as well as the sources of income of things, etc., only these are mentioned here. Otherwise, these are said to be divisible. Therefore, it is clear. The so-called "living by appointment" refers to everything that lives by appointment, such as dwellings, beds, and allocations, etc. The so-called "suitable for sickness" refers to things that have become felt, the remnants of monks, unfinished things, or its value. The so-called "because it is a possession" means that for the purpose of possession, the distribution of the five things such as the property of the stupa is prohibited, but not for the purpose of building bridges, etc. The so-called "entering the summer boundary from acquisition" means that whatever is acquired solely by relying on the Sangha should be offered, and thus enter the summer boundary. Here, the text comes from the Mūlasarvāstivāda Vinaya, which says: Bhikshus promise to stay in the summer retreat, and delineate the boundaries in the vicinity of the village of practice, they perform prohibition and permission, and delineate the boundaries outside. If someone places another Sangha there, if someone offers robes to the Sangha, who will obtain it? Those who stay there. Why? Because these acquisitions are obtained by relying on the place.
