It is called "to be observed." It is called "Do not lead the sick and weak onto the road." The third defeat is the chapter on taming. As for the fourth defeat, it should be discussed in connection. Therefore, changing the perception and saying that one possesses superhuman qualities means grasping the meaning that has become true and named, changing and hiding it, placing it in a lower position, covering other perceptions with false meanings, and then saying that one possesses superhuman qualities. Is it oneself or others? The answer is oneself. I have seen it myself, I have seen myself, I have heard the sound, I have heard it myself, I walk, I come before me, I talk together, I say to visit, I rejoice separately, I say that I am always with you, this is exactly the meaning of "seeing." Saying "etc.," it should be observed that this is exactly the meaning of saying that one possesses superhuman qualities. Saying "talking with me," etc., means talking, saying to visit, rejoicing with each other, always being together, and it should be understood in this way as well. Is it that just because of the words "I see, I see myself" will it constitute a defeat? Or does it need to refer to some objects? If so, is any object okay, or does it need a special object? Therefore, gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, non-humans, large belly walkers, pretas, flesh eaters, urn-shaped ghosts, corpses, and objects with decaying bodies are mentioned. Therefore, saying "I have seen the gods, the gods have seen me, I dwell with the gods," these words of close dwelling, because they have true meaning, are the meaning of saying that one possesses superhuman qualities. Roughly speaking, it refers to the flesh eaters between the tombs, such as the flesh eaters between the tombs and other opposing objects, saying "I have seen reason," etc., like these words, because of their respective differences, so in this way they praise me together with me.

It is knowledge. It should be declared that the nature of the supreme human Dharma is together with the fruit, that is, impermanence and other perceptions, as well as meditations, as well as immeasurables, as well as formlessness, as well as fruits, as well as supernormal knowledge, etc., are called supreme Dharma, that is, the perception of impermanence, and the perception of suffering in impermanence, and the perception of no-self in suffering, and the perception of unpleasantness in food, and the perception of extreme dislike for all the world, and the perception of faults, and the perception of abandonment, and the perception of detachment from desire, and the perception of cessation, and the perception of death, and the perception of impurity, and the perception of difference, and the perception of dispersion, and the perception of swelling, and the perception of worm-eating, and the perception of eating, and the perception of blue-blackness, and the perception of decay, and the perception of bones, and the perception of individually understanding emptiness, in order to gather together the perceptions that arise correctly from the Sutra Pitaka and others. The word "etc." in this impermanence etc., and the word "etc." in "supernormal knowledge etc.," are for the purpose of gathering together the remaining qualities of this kind. Merely speaking in general terms is the cause of tranquility, holding one's own characteristics, subduing afflictions, called the nature of faith and attention, that is, immeasurables and others. For those who have the nature of attention to that alone, and for those who have perfected the virtues of impermanence and other perceptions, the part of the other shore is spoken of here with words such as holding one's own characteristics. The meaning of tranquility is the meaning of Samadhi. With the perfection and the perceptions of impermanence etc., the perceptions of impermanence etc. themselves are the teachings. Therefore, the roots of virtue gathered by non-retrogression are perfected, and the prophecy is a failure. The prophecy of perfection on this shore itself is the understanding of the establishment of the gross downfall.

It is so. To say that one possesses that dharma is not to say that one has not spoken of possessing that nature, which means that whatever speech is used for whatever dharma possesses that nature, this is not possessing that nature. Therefore, do not think that whatever is said about the nature of non-harming to non-humans, etc., and the dharma of obtaining wrathful and glorious ones, etc., which abides in the nature of entering the stream, etc., is not the nature of entering the stream, etc. This means that speech is beneficial to this. "He has it," means to apply one's own thoughts to others and show them, such as saying, "There is a monk who sees the gods," etc. Thinking of oneself, thinking, "This is it," is speech. If one thinks of oneself as manifest there, then even so, it is applying to others. There, the nature of speech is established as applying to oneself and others. With one's own thoughts, it is established as poisonous and non-poisonous. Therefore, in speech, there is no establishment other than this speech. Therefore, here there is no fault, and cutting off is not the meaning of defeat. If those who think, "This is it," are not shown, they are also gathered by words such as "I." If it becomes "This is oneself," etc., then what is to be done by applying it to others? Therefore, it is said that if it is applied closely, it is not. Apply it to oneself. "This monk has it, who sees the gods." If one thinks that one's own words are oneself, then that is not the teaching of others. By one's own teaching, falling into defeat there is the meaning of completeness. Thus, there is also a sutra that says, "One should not say, 'I am it.'" "One should not show without thinking" means that just as one cannot find a gap with deceitful thoughts and untrustworthy words, one should not give a prophecy without individual examination. This is the chapter on distinguishing the four defeats. To make known that one has obtained a lama and completely lost it means that it is not unspoken, that is, oneself.
