If one is unable to go, therefore, taking it to greet, taking the food and drink, that is its meaning. Here, 'falling' refers to seizing in the evening, which should be understood by implication. This is the third distinction of defeat. Cutting off the hand of a human being is a grave offense. 'Sending fire to the forest' means that even if one did not intend to kill the creatures within, but because it is generally thought that there are many creatures, this is a grave offense. If one thinks there are few creatures, then this is classified as a misdeed. If one is certain that there are none, then there is no downfall. Because one treats them equally without regard for the creatures, one should understand this here. Because the combination is obtained, it is not mentioned. Here, one should understand what the characteristics of the entities are, because there is no harm, killing, that is, allowing fire to be sent to the forest, for those who are certain that there is no existence, it does not generate a downfall. For the thought of existence, it is only a misdeed, how many misdeeds, whatever belongs to this category here, whether general or specific, as long as they die, after the complete extinction of their kind, it generates that many downfalls. If there is harm to human beings, then it is a grave offense. If it is to animals, then it is a misdeed. Otherwise, if there is harm, then it is even more serious than that, because it is related to those killings and concealments that have obvious connections, cutting this off, let all that is here be destroyed. When they die, how many downfalls that are in accordance with that creature are also that many. In distinguishing, if one says, 'May the deer themselves die.' If it is not so, if there are no other beings such as humans there, or if they exist, for the deer who rely solely on knowledge, just as they are treated, it is not so for the ignorant others. If knowledge itself also applies to humans, here there are also other animals, just as it is said to the deer, if humans die, it is a grave offense, and for others it is a misdeed. For the two harms other than death, it is only a misdeed. 'Selling a hairy one' means if one sells a human being.

It is a sthūlāpatti. Here, the basis is from seizing a son of a Nirdesa meat-eater and selling him to dancers and singers. Until the Blessed One said, "A bhikṣu should not sell one with hair. If he does, he commits a sthūlāpatti." It is said in between and so forth. Whoever steals something should offer it to the guru, which should also be connected with "is a sthūlāpatti." What is completely abandoned is this expulsion. If he sells, know that this is a sthūlāpatti. For both of these, there is no manifest intention, so only this harm itself is faultless. For the harm of manifest intention, just as it is realized, the harm is blameworthy. This is the chapter of minor matters. The so-called "the teacher exhorts" means that with the mind of killing, whoever kills, kills with his own thought, and for that purpose, in connection with which teacher it is said, that is the teacher. Exhorting for the sake of killing is because he exhorts for the sake of killing. Even if he kills the one to be killed, because that instruction killed him, here the meaning is to generate defeat. Mother and fetus are examples, meaning that after many to be killed, whoever is counting, for those to be killed, the mind of killing is close, and for the sake of instructing that, all other unintentional things are also instructing, and that is incidentally a sthūlāpatti. There, that sthūlāpatti, for unintentional, for mother and fetus, it should be known that this is indicated by "stroking the abdomen." Here, mother and fetus are examples, that is the meaning. The so-called "killing oneself is a sthūlāpatti" means that subsequent effort for the sake of killing, from here, the killing that establishes the downfall is not. Therefore, here, there is no path of karma in the next life. The so-called "doing good after the mind has not changed and then doing evil" means the fruit of unintentional, whatever has not been done well, such as instructing the one to be killed, that is doing evil, not doing good. Therefore, even if the mind has not changed, it should be known that this is the meaning of doing evil. The so-called "not intentionally thinking and accomplishing is not the doer" means the fruit of unintentional.
