Apart from giving and the like, one should seek what is beneficial for residing in this place and abide by it. It means that one should not do this with single-minded devotion to worldly affairs. If an evildoer appears, he should be restrained, meaning that if a slight evildoer appears in this place, then the resident should restrain him. If virtue does not increase, then this matter should be entrusted to another resident, meaning that if the virtue of residing in that place does not increase, then one should request that this matter be entrusted to another place that can increase virtue. Therefore, he should also determine the suitability of the place through questioning and the like before giving it. That place should also do these things for that resident: prevent him from associating with bad friends, guide him to do good, and be close to good deeds, which means being close to good deeds. One should strive to prepare the means of recovery from downfall and the means of confession that are in accordance with it, meaning that the resident should strive to prepare these two. He should also do these things for him, the scriptures say that the resident should also strive to prepare these two for the place, this should be understood. Co-residents, attendants, Khenpos, Acharyas, the same Khenpo, the same Acharya, those who converse, those who greet, acquaintances, and friends should take care of the sick. Those who converse, refer to those who converse through questioning and the like, and those who lead to happiness by enjoying happiness itself. Those who greet, refer to those who become comfortable with whom and often talk to him at the appropriate time. Acquaintances, refer to those who live in the same place together, or walk together, etc., acknowledge familiarity, thereby giving rise to part and whole things. Friends, refer to those who, as soon as they see or hear something, immediately give rise to the purity of the whole, thereby giving rise to mere happiness. If the first one does not do it, then the later one does it, meaning that together with the attendants of the monastery, etc., if the former does not do the attendant, then the latter should do the attendant. Not doing the attendant together with the monastery.
