As for purity itself, here, the reason for prohibiting the practice of dividing old things on top at other times, considering it reasonable, is to explain the reason for this prohibition. The so-called "hair-covering cloth should be cut" means that the garment of the hair-covering cloth should be cut, which is to meet its own needs. The so-called "this is called hair-covering because it holds the hairs separately" is a definite term. The so-called "why is it called a garment" is because it is said in the blessing mantra that "this garment should be blessed as a hair-covering cloth." How can it be clearly understood again that this is for the purpose of distribution? Because it is not for bringing the hairs close again. Otherwise, it would be said to use a dust cover. Shaving hair with a dust cover is not prohibited. The so-called "otherwise, use a dust cover" means that if there is no garment for covering the hair, the hair and beard should be shaved with a dust cover. The so-called "should not be spread out either" means that hair and beard should not be shaved. Here, in the topic, the first thing mentioned is cutting nails, which refers to the end, that is, one should not sweep the dust cloth in the Sangha, which refers to the situation of the temple. For the elderly, the sick, the windy, the sunny, and the rainy, they should be allowed to shave in the corridors and so on. Cleaning should be done in that direction. The so-called cleaning means that there is no hair and no water, and it should be done according to how it is accomplished. The so-called "hair should be thrown in the dust cloth" means in the direction of the dust cloth. The so-called "nails and so on are also the same" refers to being similar to "should not be spread out either" and so on. Those who are proficient in hair-covering will become beautiful, so they will engage in related work. Therefore, what is prohibited here is exceeding the rule of "one should not sweep the dust cloth in the Sangha", or cleaning the ground. It should be understood that avoiding shaving hair and beard is impossible. If she has not detached from desire, then the Bhikshuni does not shave her hair because she was born without permission. The "this" mentioned here refers to the Bhikshuni who has not detached from desire. If she has detached from desire, then there is no downfall, which is the view of this treatise.

"Should shave" This word, shaving itself is such a word here. Then, the great Bhikshuni Gautama, the mother of beings, together with hundreds of Shakya Bhikshunis, shaved her own hair and wore dyed clothes, which is said to be shaving. Likewise, Gautama, you should beautify your heads, because it is said of the head itself, so there is a reason for others to shave when the hair is long. Otherwise, the term means that a Bhikshuni who has not separated from attachment does not shave because the Bhikshuni has not served. If you are completely attached, you should follow the servant. Mindfulness dwells nearby! Does this body of pus and blood have essence? If you are completely attached, then the shaver is that Bhikshuni. For the Bhikshuni shaver, one should keep in mind the concept of mother, sister and daughter. If you are completely attached, you should truly follow the servant and keep in mind the concept of mother, etc. After doing those things, one should bathe. Here, that refers to shaving hair and beard. Alternatively, it can also be a five-limbed bath. Or this word means to indicate other rituals. This is the observation when there is water. Here, the scriptures say that the Bhikshu should hold the razor and also bathe, and even wash his hands and feet. One should not bathe naked. In this way, completely covering the three robes is not being naked. As long as the three robes are covered, and the hair born from the limbs is covered, then as long as it is covered, it is not that everything should be abandoned, which should be understood here by implication. Bhikshunis should not urinate on the water's edge of men. Nor should one wash with bean flour on the water's edge of women, which prohibits Bhikshunis from bathing on the water's edge of men. On the water's edge of women, it is forbidden to wash with lentil flour, etc., but ordinary bathing is not forbidden. Here, the scriptures say that the twelve parts are women.
