Or from which village does the Sangha come? "That" refers to the Buddha or the Sangha. Because it is permissible due to need, it is not to say that things are that word; for what is not permissible, it should be said what this action is. If that is not allowed, then one should buy a firm object that is allowed. If the owner comes at that time, then ask for permission, and if not given, then one should give alms, so it is said. If at that time, it means even in the situation of buying or not buying and using, when it is needed. Not giving means not allowing. One should give alms, means that object. If interest is demanded, then one should say: What we have completely protected, is it not considered a kindness? Demanding interest means the gain as a joke. What was said before that has become permissible, for that, is it something to be laughed at? Therefore, it should be said: Gems etc. are polishing and holes. The word etc. includes the meaning of pearls and lapis lazuli etc. Here some sutras say that if a monk takes a gem, he commits a misdeed, and if he takes a polished one, he commits a downfall. Like a gem, can it also be between pearls and lapis lazuli and conch shells and agate and coral and silver and salasar and hollow and stone essence, red and right-handed? Other sutras also say that if a monk takes a gem or takes a hole, he commits a misdeed, and if he takes a hole, he commits a downfall. Like a gem, pearls and lapis lazuli and as far as right-handed are the same, so it is said. Both of them are the same, how to combine them appropriately, saying this includes both. Necklaces and bracelets and armlets and necklaces and Where Semodor is located is also, it refers to what is made of salasar and silver, here for that which is not the nature of being like this, for these are not the actual doers, this is grasped for the purpose of showing this meaning.

Flutes, Valari, Mahati, and Sughoshaka, etc., are those with strings, and that is permissible. Here, everything should be added. Here, the scripture says that if a monk takes a povang, taking one with strings, he will commit a downfall offense; if he takes one without strings, he will commit a downfall and a fault offense. Just like the pipa, flutes, Valari, Mahati, and Sughoshaka are also said to be the same. Conch shells, large drums, drums pataha, and earthenware drums, etc., make sounds, and that is permissible. Others are those with strings, and that is permissible, that is the meaning. Swords, curved swords, single-edged swords, madung, javelins, and iron hooks, etc., are just like that; if swords, etc., are those, then swords, etc., are permissible, and permissible is the meaning of permissible. Arrows, iron arrows, and half-arrows made of iron are those with arrowheads, and that is permissible, it should be added like this. Buddha images are those with relics, and that is permissible, all those that are used to represent this. Here, it means to abide separately. Having relics is complete, and in relation to that, each approaches the other. Approaching what is needed, just like the nature of this, shows the Buddha image with relics. Just like the pus of a jewel, having relics is complete without fault. If there are no relics, one will commit an evil deed. Just like not being the pus of a jewel, having relics will commit an evil deed. If there are no relics, there is no downfall offense. Here, in order to completely abandon heaviness, mindfulness is established nearby, here one should know to establish separately. Stupas made of jewels are not without need, therefore, here also the four types of pus of jewels and having relics, etc., will commit a downfall offense. If any one is missing, one will commit an evil deed, one should understand this. The Buddha images of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are those with relics.

Regarding those relics, whether they are relics of the Buddha or others, it should be understood that it becomes a fault. Images of the son of No Craving and others, if not made of precious materials, but are relics, whether they are their bones or relics of the Buddha, there is no fault. If they are made of precious materials, then merely because of the object, it becomes a fault. If one establishes the thought of the teacher upon them, there is no fault, which means that upon those images, one establishes the thought of the teacher, and touching or causing to be touched is without fault. Regarding "pearls, coral and other rosaries, mouthpieces, certain pottery drums, and bows and arrows are all half-offenses," the term "made like an arrow" refers to being combined with a bow, etc., and approaching the form of an arrow. It should be understood that it is made by hollowing out wood, etc., and roughly making it resemble an arrow. Here, the words coral, etc., are merely examples; even if it is an earthen treasure, it is a half-offense, and it should be known as a fault. "A golden platform is not allowed," such a form itself is not a necessary utensil; who needs a platform, etc., for this? Because it is established in the impermissible itself, it is the meaning of complete establishment in all. Here, the scripture says in some requests that if a monk sits on a golden platform, it is a fault. If fear arises, without harming oneself, one may hide or carry away the property and gold of the Sangha and stupa. Some scriptures say that here, one hides and then carries it away. Elsewhere it says that a monk carries the inexhaustible treasure of the Sangha, gives it to laypeople and novices, etc., and after they carry it away and flee, the Blessed One said: Do not give the inexhaustible treasure of the Sangha into the hands of untrustworthy laypeople or novices. If they become trustworthy, then it may be given. But if they do not become trustworthy, the monk should carry it himself.
