It is a container for placing reliance. If asked what it is like, therefore it is said, "Anything made of earth and copper is acceptable," meaning that it can be made of earth or copper. That is placed at the beginning of the three wooden sticks, if asked how to place it, therefore it is said, "It should be made with holes," meaning that here, considering taking things out from the holes, multiple holes can also be made, it should be understood that this is allowed. Place the filtering reliance container on the outer surface, meaning that because there is no binding, if there is no place to place it here, then place it here. This is also said considering the male. So, what is it used to place it? Therefore it is said, "The first is with a rope, the latter is with a smooth iron ring," meaning that the first one made of earth is placed with a rope, and the latter one made of copper is placed with a smooth iron ring. Regarding "to hold it," the "it" refers to the container to be held. Here, it itself indicates the iron ring and the rope. Therefore, it should also be understood that holding these is also indicated here. If it does not leak, use a wooden board to block the accumulated water and slowly cover it. The bottle-shaped filter with small holes is to reduce trouble, meaning that even if there is a hanging filter, because it is less troublesome and easy, one should generate desire for it. The bottle-shaped filter with small holes, from then on it should be known to be pleasing, this has already been explained. Holding it, whether it is caste or non-caste, is not specified. It should be said, therefore it is said, "to hold it." If asked what is it made of?

Here, the vessel should be made in the shape of a water pot, and within it, one should first make holes in the shape of lotuses. In order to gather these holes, a large hole should be made above them. In order to gather these holes themselves, it is said that it should be made with a concave bottom. Here, it is explicitly stated that a large hole of a water pot should be made. However, it is obtained here through meaning, therefore it is not indicated here. Regarding 'Do not cover those with cloth,' 'those' refers to the inner holes. Here, the scripture says that cloth should be covered over those to filter water, but not over the hole of the water pot. 'A water strainer should be placed nearby' means that this matter must be done very carefully. 'A water strainer can be triangular, round, with a base, or even a clear strainer' means that a water strainer with a spout is not without the function of straining water. Therefore, one should not assume that it does not possess the function of straining. To make it easy to carry, one should understand that it has the function of carrying by the word 'clear strainer.' Alternatively, the word 'or' here is to indicate that when placing one of these forms, this form has this fault, and that form has that fault, but not that multiple forms have faults. Therefore, it is mentioned that using a bird-mouth pot and round pots to hold water, and also having water and the state of possessing a water strainer. The so-called bird-mouth pot refers to the state of always having a water strainer as long as there is a place to hold water on the road, which should be understood implicitly. 'Also possessing' means that from then on, in order to carry it on the road, it will become something that needs to be accomplished, and this refers to the bird-mouth pot itself. When it says 'possessing it,' 'it' refers to the water strainer itself. Without it, one should not travel and walk. Do not (travel) with the inside (dirt). If such an accident occurs, then ask for forgiveness. When doing things, having is having. If someone promises, 'I will give you this there,' then one possesses that (water strainer). Here, 'there' refers to the time of doing things. When filtering water, if someone promises to give it to you, then possessing that means possessing the water strainer. For what reason?

That which exists in doing is the meaning of existing here. When wandering, if you do not promise to give when leaving, do not rely on it. This means that when there is a time to leave, at that time give a water filter. Like this, possessing a water filter, if you promise to give a water filter, then when wandering, that which possesses this promised gift is the possession of a water filter. Do not rely on it, because promising to give when leaving, and the previous promise, when leaving later, is consistent with the side that does not have it. Going to the vicinity where you will not become poor is not wandering. Therefore, it is five bow-lengths. Not becoming poor is the vicinity itself. Here, the texts about these are: in some texts, can a monk without a water filter go from another village to another monastery? Yes, if even if he goes there, he will not become poor. Another text says, without a water filter, can he enter a ruin? Yes, up to one yojana. He said, when he arrives there, if he does not become poor. This sutra is a collection of the last texts. Here, it is collected with words such as "if there." Leaving after settling down, and that which does not possess that, is not not free. It is said that if I go, I will possess that. If it is not certain like this, then at that time, without a water filter, he should not go there. Therefore, for him, this is the doer. Wanting to do is the meaning of not having a water filter. One person up to the Sangha will not not possess that, meaning that up to the Sangha, for me, one person will not not possess a water filter. For a fast-flowing river, it is not not becoming poor, meaning that for the other five bow-lengths, it is not possessing that. This should be known. For this, it is also the meaning of this ritual. Here, the text is: can a monk go without a water filter where a river flows?
