If it is said to be multiple, then why can't one of them be used to liberate? Because this ritual is designed for non-liberation, so for those who are bound by multiple things, one of them should be used to cut it off, not others. Not having the Dharma of seeds is not doing evil, because there is no concealment, so it is judged as a downfall. For whose sake are these five kinds of seedless Dharma said to be permissible? This is a summary of them. The downfall related to food that has not been given and taken, and this first permission, means that in these details, from having no seeds, to being related to..., until the final "taking," are all counted. From the basis of medicine to being considered true, until "existence arises" are counted. From the dissolution of the basis of medicine to "done" until "can be eaten" are counted. From details etc. to "not being non-different" are counted. Wounds caused by fire, swords, fingernails, and parrots, as well as decay, digging out, crushing, cracking, and cutting, are all permissible. Wounds caused by others are not real wounds, therefore, being struck by swords etc. should be understood here as an example. Other than that, situations that are not wounds, such as fruits being scratched by fingernails and parrots, because it is obvious, and not intentionally caused, nor difficult to detect, just like not having done it, so these examples are used to illustrate. The so-called "digging out" is digging out. Here, it is not necessary to rely on other considerations to make it permissible, because only digging out itself is considered permissible here, so the word "only" should be understood here. What is said here as "crushing" is expressed by the word "crushing." The so-called "cracking" is already cracked. If it is cracked by itself, then it is not considered permissible, because it has become unchangeable. The so-called "cutting" is harvesting. The cutting that is done to remove it from its original position, that is its meaning. The appropriate treatment for eating, this is the reason why wounds appear, which has been explained earlier.

That is, for those who think that it is not so, this sentence is to explain this meaning. When it can be done, it is not necessary to consider until the seed is no longer a seed. This means that when it can be done, until the seed is no longer a seed, it is not necessary to consider this. Knowing the meaning of eliminating with "touching fire" etc., therefore this sutra is made. Regarding the sentence "Here steam is not fire", "here" refers to what can be done. Steam is fire itself, and steam can also produce the possibility of being touched by fire, which is its function. Here the text of these two sutras is "Bhikkhus, the types of immature seeds", therefore it is allowed to eat seeds moistened by steam, and do not regret it. For making fruits edible with fire, it is usually done mainly with the whole. The text here is "Bhikkhus, grapes are ripened one by one with fire" and so on. Here it refers to taking the nature of the whole as the main, having the true number, that is, the whole can be eaten. From one aspect, external edibility will not arise, which refers to what can be done, which refers to this edibility. Therefore, all aspects of the whole should be able to be touched by fire. The sutra says "It should be touched in two or three aspects", which is a summary. Regarding "Bhikkhus, what can be done is already done", the text here is "Venerable, if they make the five kinds of seeds edible with fire, earth, nails or weapons, is this called edible?", or "The nearby is cooked", meaning that except for the nearby being cooked by fire, the rest can be eaten, and are edible. The sutra says "If it is cooked, it will commit the sin of destroying the seed collection". The sentence "If it is cooked" should be understood as referring to damaged edibles. Here it says "Except for the nearby being cooked by fire", which refers to cooking with fire.
