Furthermore, here it is held by the word "jewel." Whatever magnet that has become a jewel is also thrown out by this. It is not the same for something that has become a stone, because there is no jewel there. Here, the jewels and so forth that are mentioned should be understood as examples of jewels, because other things such as the essence of jewels are similar in themselves. What is called silver is white silver. What is called gold is sale sbra ma. The reason why these two are mentioned in the sutra is because it is an example. If one touches jewels, pearls, vaiḍūrya, conch shells, white agate, coral, silver, sale sbra ma, the essence of stone, silk, red objects, right-spiraling conch shells, and so forth, it is a pārājika offense. In order to say this, from the point of view of differentiation, here, these two, which have become copper or gold or sale sbra ma, also have the meaning of being able to be nominally designated. The meaning here is that it is only a single substance, even if it can be nominally designated as a jewel, it only refers to the part that has the substance itself. Even so, for copper that can be nominally designated, it is established as a misdeed. Therefore, this is an example, and for other things that are not the nature of jewels but can be nominally designated, it should be understood as a misdeed. Whatever manifestly relies on the manifest characteristic that can be nominally designated is the essence here, not men and so forth, because there is no difference in characteristics like this. For these two that can be nominally designated, the act of buying and selling itself is the main thing here for the manifest characteristic. Even so, In the phrase "if one touches copper that can be nominally designated," the word "can be nominally designated" refers to the manifest characteristic, not the essence. Therefore, for things that are not manifest characteristics, even if it is only because of the price (paṇa) itself, for things that have not become jewels that can be nominally designated, it should be understood that the main thing is that a misdeed is committed here. For example, for conch shells and so forth, it should be known that these are not to be abandoned, because jewels themselves have no substance. For the nature of jewels, the jewel of manifest characteristic that cannot be nominally designated, for the non-nominable itself, it should be understood as a misdeed.

It should be done like this. In terms of complete terminology, the main thing is the "pana" (paNa, an ancient Indian currency unit) itself with obvious characteristics. Here, it is not like this for the mind of the essence of jewels. Furthermore, abiding in trust, that is, abiding in upright pride, is not the object itself for craving, arrogance, and conceit, etc., but touching things that should be taken as one's own is the cause of abandoning various distinctions. Using words together and using trade together are the various distinctions of the answer to "doing." Here, it is grasping at differences, and what is called "this is ultimate here" is the meaning of brevity. For jewels, it is also the promise itself, which becomes an obstacle to all things that should be done, as a basis, and also becomes the acquirer for the remainder. For all suitable people, etc., this is used to make various distinctions. For things that are not suitable for naming, it is called "should be blamed," and not suitable for naming means not suitable for trade, and touching it has the meaning of "fault." For the following, etc., it also means "on the basis of the complete study of terminology, or should be blamed, this is for things that are not suitable for naming." What is called "not suitable for naming" is like what, should be known? Therefore, it is mentioned that "it is cracked, broken, broken, burnt, previously used, unmade, without characteristics, and repaired," and what is called "that" is "not suitable for naming." What is called "cracked itself and broken itself" means that cracks appear, whether they are glued or not, and holes appear. What is called "burnt" means that the jewel has come into contact with fire and has become not the jewel itself, and it should be known that it has become unsuitable for trade. "Pana" is diminished in the remaining part with obvious characteristics, but it is not completely and thoroughly disappeared, so there is no fault in taking it. Previously used, for the shape of ornaments and conch shells, etc., it is close to having obvious characteristics. The "pana" itself should be combined with this, but not for the jewel itself. Or, what is called "burnt" is polishing, and it is okay to burn off the dirty ones first. What is called "without characteristics" means without characteristics. What is called "unmade" means what has no characteristics
