It is said that it is what is said to others after abandoning the offense of abandoning. The method of accomplishing it should be stated, and the Sarva school says, "The edge of the sewn cloth is double-layered." The meaning of Sarva is that it has not been used in any of the three times, past, present, and future. The same is true for the mat, meaning that if it is made of Sarva fabric, then the number of layers on its edge is double. The upper garment and skirt are single-layered, meaning that if the upper garment and skirt are made of Sarva fabric, then the number of layers on their edges is single. Here, the scripture is that if a monk is able to cut, modify, and make, then the sewn cloth and mat made by the monk from that garment should be double-layered. The upper garment and skirt should be single-layered. This is what is said in the scripture. As for the fabric used seasonally, it should be doubled, meaning in reference to the double-layered and single-layered mentioned in the previous scriptures. If these are made from fabric used in one season, then it should be doubled. The sewn cloth and mat should be four-layered. The upper garment and skirt should be double-layered, meaning that is the meaning. The seasonally used garment is a small garment, which has been established. Whichever of the three seasons it has been used in, it is speaking of the nature of time running out. Here, the four months should be considered the season. Those made of rags have no certainty, meaning that even if there are very many layers, there is no certainty. Here, the scripture is, what should the rag be made of? This is what is said in the scripture. For the old and sparse, add as much as is needed, meaning that for those that are not rags, more should be added. Old means that it has exhausted itself. Sparse means that it has been thinned by the excrement of disciples, etc. As much as is needed means how much is needed, that is, how much needs to be used. Extra means more than the edge of the number of layers indicated earlier. Sewing means patches. This scripture is summarized from the Mahayana Sutra. Do not add extra sewing.

Connecting the ground is a transgression, and this indicates that. The phrase "it will surely be abandoned" means that if the order of excessive connection exceeds ten days, it should be regarded as a downfall of abandonment. The phrase "a knowledgeable person should clean it and not give it without generating the thought of connecting it here" means that what is unsuitable should be given here. Do not give the Dharma garment without generating the thought of connecting it here. Not dwelling on such a thought means not generating the thought. The phrase "whatever touches it, before it is connected, it will surely be abandoned," where "whatever" means that in whatever way, or touched by other thoughts, it will become its very form. The phrase "correct connection itself will become accomplishment" indicates that knowledge is expressed in the order of sequential arrangement. The pieces of cloth for sewing a kasaya are from nine up to twenty-five down, excluding even numbers, which means: here, equal refers to approaching the even number itself, that is, excluding ten, twelve, fourteen, sixteen, eighteen, twenty, twenty-two, and twenty-four, that is what it means. Why are those extra pieces said to be the reason for sewing a kasaya? The phrase "above that is a patch" means that because the patch itself has become that, it is not. The phrase "for the first three, they are three and a half of those" refers to the first three kasayas sewn, that is, for these parts of the ninth, eleventh, and thirteenth pieces of cloth, it is three and a half. The three and a half parts are the essence of these parts, therefore, three and a half is its thing. Here, the pieces of cloth should be understood as the parts themselves, not the blocks and halves. The phrase "for the second, they are four and a half" refers to the second three kasayas sewn, that is, the fifteenth, seventeenth, and nineteenth kasayas. The blocks of those pieces of cloth
