His conduct as a renunciate will become irreversible. For example, if the head of a palm tree is cut off, it cannot turn green again, nor can it grow, flourish, and become wide. From now on, you should strive to guard your mind very carefully with mindfulness and vigilance, avoiding what should not be done, what should not be done, and what should not be used. How can one not use a place like this? It should be said that he did not use it. Venerable one, listen! Venerable one, listen! Taking what is not given, the Blessed One has condemned in many ways. Abandoning taking what is not given is praised, honored, extolled, and spoken of favorably. Venerable one, from now on, even if you do not take another's sesame pod with a thieving mind, what need is there to mention five mashakas or more than five mashakas? Venerable one, the Blessed One, the Thus-Gone One, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, the Knower and Seer, said that if a monk dwells in the village or monastery of others and takes what belongs to the category of taking what is not given, no matter how much he takes that is not given, the king or great minister will seize him and say to him, 'Hey, you are a thief! A child! A fool! A robber!' Then they kill him, or bind him, or expel him. If a monk takes what is not given in this way, then that monk is defeated and cannot abide. If a monk does such a thing, as soon as he does it, he can no longer be a monk, he cannot be a renunciate, nor can he be a son of the Shakyas, and he will lose the status of a monk. His conduct as a renunciate will be destroyed, lost, ruined, fallen, and defeated. His conduct as a renunciate will become irreversible. For example, if the head of a palm tree is cut off, it cannot turn green again, nor can it grow, flourish, and become wide. From now on, you should strive to guard your mind very carefully with mindfulness and vigilance, avoiding what should not be used, what should not be done, and what should not be used.

It should be said that this is conduct. Venerable one, listen. Killing is condemned by the Blessed One in many ways. Abandoning killing is praised, respected, lauded, and spoken of favorably. From now on, Venerable one, even after considering, you should not kill even ants and other small insects, let alone a human or one who has taken human form. Venerable one, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, endowed with knowledge and conduct, has also said that if any monk intentionally kills a human or one who has taken human form with his own hand, or gives a weapon, or seeks a weapon-bearer, or causes him to die, or even praises death, for example, saying to the monk: 'Alas, man, why do you still live with this sinful, impure, ugly life?' Alas, man, death is better than life.' With the desires and thoughts of the mind, in various ways causing him to die, or praising death, if this person dies as a result, then this monk has also failed and should not remain. This is what the Blessed One said. If a monk does such an act, he immediately ceases to be a monk, ceases to be a Shramana, ceases to be a Shramana, ceases to be a son of the Shakya, he will lose his status as a monk, his Shramana conduct will be destroyed, lost, broken, fallen, failed, and his Shramana conduct will be irretrievable. For example, if the head of a palm tree is cut off, it cannot turn green again, nor can it grow, expand, and extend. From now on, for what you should not practice, should not do, and should not engage in, strive to guard your mind very carefully with mindfulness and vigilance. How can one not commit such a fault? It should be said that he has not committed such a fault. Venerable one, listen. Lying is condemned by the Blessed One in many ways. Abandoning lying is praised, respected, lauded, and spoken of favorably. Venerable one, from now on, even when joking, you should not knowingly

Even lying should not be done, let alone intentionally claiming to have attained superhuman states. The Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One, the Knower and Seer, also said that if a monk has not directly realized or fully understood, does not have superhuman states, does not have the states of a noble one, has not attained a superior state, does not have wisdom, does not have vision, and does not experience it, yet falsely claims to know this and see this, if he wants to be purified from this downfall, whether asked after some time or not, he says, "Venerables, I said I know what I do not know, I said I see what I do not see." After saying this, apart from being a false exaggeration of pride, that monk has already failed and cannot remain. After saying these things, (question) What do you know? (Answer) I know suffering, I know the arising of suffering, I know the cessation of suffering, I know the path of suffering. (Question) What do you see? (Answer) I see the gods, I see the nagas, I see the yakshas, I see the garudas, I see the gandharvas, I see the kinnaras, I see the mahoragas, I see the pretas, I see the flesh-eaters, I see the kumbhandas, I see the putrid ones, I see the body-putrid ones, I see the flesh-eaters in the dust. The gods also see me, the nagas, the yakshas, the garudas, the gandharvas, the kinnaras, the mahoragas, the pretas, the flesh-eaters, the kumbhandas, the putrid ones, the body-putrid ones, the flesh-eaters in the dust also see me. I hear the voices of the gods, I hear the voices of the nagas, the yakshas, the garudas, the gandharvas, the kinnaras, the mahoragas, the pretas, the flesh-eaters, the kumbhandas, the putrid ones, the body-putrid ones, the flesh-eaters in the dust.
