To cause to enter, to cause to act as a servant and acknowledge him as the master, and to bless him. Among these, the first permissible ritual is that when a monk obtains valuable items for robes, he should accept them, and after accepting them, he should also trust the patron and hold them. The second permissible ritual is that whatever small amount of non-permissible items the monks obtain for as long as they live, all of those should be made pleasing to the monastery or the lay practitioner by the patron servant, and held in his name. The third permissible ritual is that without holding it in hand, place it in front, stand in front of the monk, and say these words: Venerable ones, please listen. I, the monk named so-and-so, have obtained this non-permissible item. I, the monk named so-and-so, bless this non-permissible item. With this non-permissible item, I will accomplish permissible items. Repeat this twice or three times in the same way. The listening monk should say: It is a means. One should say oneself: Good. It is the same no matter which of these three permissible methods is done, because there is no taking possession, so even if one touches it or allows it to be touched, one should not regret it. This is the ritual and mantra for making non-permissible items permissible. From the occasion of abandoning the search for a bowl, again, if a monk's bowl does not have five patches, and even though it is usable, he searches for another new bowl because he wants a good one, and if the bowl is obtained, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. That monk should distribute that bowl to the Sangha of monks. Whichever is the worst bowl of that Sangha of monks, that should be given to that monk, saying: Monk, you should not bless this bowl, you should not abandon it, you should not give it to others, but you should use it slowly and carefully until the ultimate end of not being broken. It should be given in this way. While saying that this is the ritual, it is also said that a monk who distributes ownerless bowls should be appointed, and this should be done as follows: A monk who distributes ownerless bowls, if he possesses five qualities, even if he has not been appointed, he should not be appointed, and if he has been appointed

should also be dismissed. What are the five? Acting out of desire, acting out of hatred, acting out of delusion, acting out of fear, and not knowing whether or not unowned bowls have been distributed. If a monk who distributes unowned bowls possesses five qualities, then one who has not been appointed should be appointed, and one who has been appointed should not be dismissed. What are the five? Not acting out of desire, not acting out of hatred, not acting out of delusion, not acting out of fear, and knowing whether or not unowned bowls have been distributed. This is how the appointment should be made. First, one should inquire whether they are willing. One should ask: "So-and-so, are you willing to distribute unowned bowls from the Sangha?" If they are willing, they should say that they are willing. After that, they should prepare a seat, strike the ghanta, and inform the monks truthfully with the words of the inquiry. When all the Sangha have gathered and are in harmony, one monk should make a request and then perform the karma. This is how it should be done: while seated, one should say: "Venerable Sangha, please listen. This monk, named So-and-so, is willing to distribute unowned bowls to the Sangha. If it is the appropriate time for the Sangha and it is permissible, then please allow the Sangha to appoint this monk, named So-and-so, to distribute unowned bowls to the Sangha." This is the request. The karma should be done as follows: "Venerable Sangha, please listen. This monk, named So-and-so, is willing to distribute unowned bowls to the Sangha. For this reason, if the venerable ones agree that the Sangha should appoint this monk, named So-and-so, to distribute unowned bowls to the Sangha, then please remain silent. If anyone disagrees, please speak up." The Sangha has agreed and permitted, and the Sangha has appointed this monk, named So-and-so, to distribute unowned bowls to the Sangha. In this way, because no one speaks, it is decided in this way. Bowl

The Dharma of the bhikkhu who distributes unconnected alms bowls should be practiced as follows: When the bhikkhu who distributes unconnected alms bowls gathers the Sangha, he should announce to the Sangha: "Venerable ones, tomorrow I will distribute unconnected alms bowls to the Sangha. When you strike the bell tomorrow, each of you should take your own alms bowl and enter the Sangha." Then, the bhikkhu who distributes unconnected alms bowls should prepare the seats in the afternoon of that day, strike the bell, and properly exhort the bhikkhus with words of inquiry. The bhikkhus should also take out their blessed alms bowls and enter the Sangha. Then, the bhikkhu who distributes unconnected alms bowls, when the entire Sangha is seated and in harmony, should take the unconnected alms bowl, prostrate towards the elders, sit in front of the abbot of the Sangha, and say to the abbot: "Abbot, this alms bowl is very clear, has a good shape, and is fit for use. If you wish, please enjoy it." In this way, he should praise the virtues of the unconnected alms bowl as they are, and then offer it. If the abbot of the Sangha wishes, he should accept it. If the abbot of the Sangha accepts that alms bowl, the abbot of the Sangha should offer that alms bowl to the second abbot. The alms bowl of the second abbot should be offered to the third abbot. Similarly, the alms bowl of the second novice of the Sangha should be offered to the novice of the Sangha, until the end. If the abbot of the Sangha does not accept it, it should be offered to the second abbot. If the second abbot does not accept it, it should be offered to the third abbot. If the third abbot accepts it, if the abbot of the Sangha asks for it, it should not be given at the first request, nor should it be given at the second request. It should be given at the third request, and the abbot of the Sangha should confess the offense of violating the Vinaya. Thus.
