it will become broken, decayed, destroyed, fallen, and completely defeated. Her practice will be irretrievable. For example, if the head of a palm tree is cut off, it will not turn green again, nor will it grow, prosper, and expand. What are the eight? Desire, attachment to desire, indulgence in desire, excessive attachment to desire, the Blessed One condemns in many ways. Abandoning desire is praised, abandoning, giving away, exhausting, detachment from desire, cessation, approaching tranquility, and vanishing are praised, revered, lauded, and spoken of favorably. You, named "so-and-so," from now on, do not fix your eyes on a person born of lustful thoughts, do not even look with your eyes. What need is there to mention engaging in impure conduct, practicing the Dharma of sexual intercourse, when two people join together? You, named "so-and-so," the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One, the Knower and Seer, if a Bhikshuni, together with the Bhikshunis, upholds the same precepts, and without abandoning or violating the precepts, engages in impure conduct, practicing the Dharma of sexual intercourse, even with a being born in the animal realm, that Bhikshuni has failed and should not remain. This is the Buddha's teaching. If a Bhikshuni does such an act, she will immediately lose her status as a Bhikshuni, will no longer be a practitioner, no longer a son of the Shakya, and will lose her status as a Bhikshuni. Her practice will be broken, decayed, destroyed, fallen, and completely defeated. Her practice will be irretrievable. For example, if the head of a palm tree is cut off, it will not turn green again, nor will it grow, prosper, and expand. From now on, regarding what should not be done, what is not to be done, and what should not be practiced, strive to diligently guard your mind with mindfulness and vigilance. How should one not engage in such places? It should be said: She should not engage. You, named "so-and-so," listen! Taking what is not given is the Blessed One's

Stealing is condemned in many ways. Abandoning what is not given is praised. It is revered. It is lauded. It is celebrated. You, named "So-and-so," from now on, if you do not take even a sesame seed of another's that has not been given with a thieving mind, what need is there to mention five mashakas or more than five mashakas? You, named "So-and-so," the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, the Knower and Seer, has said that if a bhikshuni dwells in another village or monastery and takes what belongs to the category of stealing what has not been given, no matter how much she takes that has not been given, if the king or a great minister seizes her, they will say to her, "You woman are a thief! A child! A fool! A robber!" And they may kill, imprison, or expel her. If a bhikshuni takes what has not been given in this way, then that bhikshuni has fallen and should not remain. This is what the Buddha has said. If a bhikshuni does such an act, she immediately becomes unfit to be a bhikshuni, unfit to be a shramana, unfit to be a son of the Shakyas. She will fall from the state of a bhikshuni, her state of a shramana will be destroyed, and she will decline, be destroyed, fall, and be defeated. Her state of a shramana will become impossible to restore. Just as if the head of a palm tree is cut off, it cannot become green again, and it cannot grow, flourish, and expand. From now on, strive to diligently guard your mind with mindfulness and vigilance, abandoning what is not to be practiced, what is not to be done, and what is not to be practiced. It should be said that she does not engage in such behavior, she does not act. You, named "So-and-so," listen! The Bhagavan condemns killing in many ways. Abandoning killing is praised. It is revered. It is lauded. It is celebrated. You, named "So-and-so," from now on, do not intentionally kill even small creatures like ants, let alone a human being or one who has taken human form.
