For one who is about to become a bhikṣuṇī, the upavāsa vow should be given and the full ordination should be conferred. This should be done as follows: First, the preceptor should search for her alms bowl and dharma robes, and request the bhikṣuṇī who performs the duties. The bhikṣuṇī who teaches in secret should also be requested. The bhikṣuṇīs who will participate in her karmic ceremony should also be requested. Those bhikṣuṇīs who will participate in her karmic ceremony, when they gather there, should restrain, confess, and bless the offenses of the past half-month, and examine them separately. If an offense is known, it should be corrected by restraint, confession, or blessing, and then abide. After that, the entire bhikṣuṇī sangha should gather and be harmonious, or it is also acceptable for those who are mandala practitioners. In the central region, there is a sangha of twelve bhikṣuṇīs, etc., or in remote regions, if there are no others, a sangha of six, etc., who uphold the Vinaya is also acceptable. First, she should be made to prostrate to the teacher. After that, each bhikṣuṇī should be made to prostrate three times. There are two types of prostration: prostration with five limbs and bending from the knees. Here, either one is acceptable. This is what is done the first time. After that, a request should be made to the preceptor. The request should be made as follows: After making her prostrate to the preceptor, she should be allowed to sit comfortably in front on a cushion, inner garment, etc., and she should be made to join her palms. If she is a preceptor, she should be called "preceptor." If she is a teacher, she should be called "teacher." If she is a noble mother, she should be called "noble mother," etc., as appropriate. Then, she should say this: Noble Mother, please listen. I, named so-and-so, request the Noble Mother to be my preceptor. Please, Noble Mother, be my preceptor. Please, Noble Mother, grant me full ordination as a preceptor. Repeat this twice, three times. The third time, say "preceptor." The preceptor should say, "There is a method." The disciple should say, "Good." This is the request to the preceptor. After that, the preceptor herself should bless the five dharma robes for her. If temporarily
