If there are five kinds of reputations (of the Sangha), then (the penalty should be) five or six days. If (the distance) is two and a half krosas, then it is the time for Uposatha. One should not cut off (a monk) with the defect of abiding (in the precepts), and one should not not cut off (a monk) with no defect. There are five kinds of defects: one should not gossip, one should not give instructions, one should not let him enjoy reverence, Dharma, and wealth, one should not cut off his efforts to do good, and one should prohibit him from residing. These punishments are appropriate for those who are unbelieving, lazy, discontented, disrespectful, and who make evil friends. If someone who has been punished with defects is accepted by others, the offense will become serious. If one is not respectful, a knowledgeable and prudent bhikshu should be appointed for the sake of fairness. If he asks for forgiveness for the damage that has been done, he should be forgiven. One should not punish an inappropriate person with defects. One should not be unforgiving to an appropriate person. One should not be forgiving to an inappropriate person. If he still does not repent, he should be expelled from the dwelling. For a novice monk, one should give a water pot, rosary, public container, lower garment, and a robe including an upper garment. If he wants to receive full ordination, then five requisites are needed. It is the same for those who have received full ordination. One should not be arrogant like a lion. One should not make harmful laws. The state of the mouth is that it has not been washed. The tooth wood should be discarded in a secluded place. The same goes for defecation and urination. One should not discard it near a tree or wall that can be used. Its size is twelve fingers or less, and eight fingers or more. If there is a lot of phlegm, and there is no (tooth wood), then it should be more than four fingers. In the dwelling, there is nothing wrong with discarding the tooth wood in a copper basin. In this way, the toilet will not become unclean. There, within a cubit, it can be made into that kind of shape. After that, one should scrape the tongue. The tongue scraper should be placed nearby. It should be made of needle material, etc. For this matter, a piece of tooth wood can be used. In order not to make it sharp, one should rub one against the other. Rub and scrape the teeth, tongue, and ears with something that is not sharp. Do not do it slowly. Doing so will not harm the flesh. The direction of rubbing and scraping the teeth and tongue, the clothes stained with dirt from the mouth, should not be discarded if they have not been washed or wiped with earth. Do not discard it without making a sound. This is an example. Defecation and urination and
