Vinaya Sutra. Qualities of Light. Vinaya Sutra. Qualities of Light. In Indian language: Vinaya Sutra. In Tibetan language: The Sutra of Discipline. Volume One. Homage to the All-Knowing One. Focusing on the discipline of definite emergence, when the entire Sangha is assembled, the procedure should be done as follows. Homage to the elders, with palms joined. Squatting and making supplications three times. Ordaining simultaneously with the supplication and the four karmas, like the upasampada. Such is the ancient ritual. For the sake of ordination and full ordination, for some monks, abiding in the position of Khenpo. The first Khenpo asks about obstacles and grants permission to those who are completely pure. A layperson, a novice, and a monk should not do the latter for those who have not yet been fully ordained. The words of taking refuge should be composed, and the words of taking the vows of a layperson and a novice should be made. After that, the precepts should be declared in the manner of promising. Having been invited as a layperson by oneself, one should entrust it to the monk who petitions the Sangha. Ask if it is completely pure, and if it is pure, then petition. Whether the entire Sangha is assembled, or residing in their respective dwellings. Everyone should say, if it is completely pure. One should petition the Khenpo. Except for the crown hair, the hair and beard should be shaved. Ask if the crown hair should be shaved, and if it is given, then shave it. One should bathe. The Khenpo should give the saffron robes. One should take them by touching both feet. The Khenpo should appoint. One should examine the signs of the genitals. One should invite ordination by composing the words of taking refuge. It can also be after the petition. One should entrust it to the monk who invites the novice. Ask if it is completely pure, and if it is pure, then invite. This is the Acharya. There are also secret instructors, workers, those who give lodging, and readers. If the meaning is accomplished, then it becomes a fact. When promising to petition the Khenpo, then it becomes a fact. Whatever the last statement is, it is completed in the third part. For example, when declaring other things, the novice.

It is just like that. Here, it refers to the meaning of the last Khenpo. Giving a place to stay is because of staying for one night, ultimately it is about closely residing. Reading means reciting one verse three times. Speaking without the intention of reading is not reading itself. Do not speak intimately about those two separately. Do not do it to others. For the sake of meaning, having mentioned the name, etc., without saying "etc.," do not address the Khenpo by name. This is the ritual for becoming a novice monk. One should receive full ordination from the Sangha. Because one has turned towards the Khenpo, one should request the Karmika and the monk who secretly informs. One should request the Khenpo. He himself should bless the three Dharma robes for him. The bowl should neither be small, nor large, nor old, and show it to the Sangha. If it is not like that, everyone should say, "The bowl is good." After calling him, the Karmika should make the secret informer speak with words such as "What is it?", make him happy, and then request the Sangha. One should secretly inform him with words such as "Listen." Having said, "Do not come until you are called, stay," if one informs in this way, one should make the Sangha understand that it is completely pure, and request him to come with words such as "Is there anything?" Everyone should say, "If it is completely pure." The Karmika should have the one receiving full ordination request. After requesting the Sangha, one should ask if there are any obstacles. One should accomplish the full ordination. Immediately after that, one should know the size of the shadow. A pillar that is four fingers wide is best. That is called "male." One should also speak of the parts of day and night, morning, etc. Time as well. Those are five. Winter time, spring time, summer time, short summer time, long summer time. The first two are four months each. The one below is one month. The one below that is one day and night. The last is that which exceeds three months. One should speak of the places, etc. One should also speak of the Dharmas that cause one to fall and the Dharmas that lead to virtue. Having spoken of the perfection with the most excellent intention, with truthfulness, and equality with discipline.
