Whoever among you will cause disturbance to the sangha during the summer retreat, the sangha should thoroughly investigate him afterward, this should be made known to the monks. For the sake of others taking and promising, one should request the sangha. Distribute the lots. First, the teacher takes. Others should rise halfway from their seats. The novices should be taken care of by their teachers and preceptors. Finally, the permanent residents, that too. It should be placed slowly. After counting, it should be announced: "So many monks have taken lots in this place." The foundation of the dwelling should be established. Taking the door latches and keys of those, sitting in front, say, "Venerable, please accept such and such monastery, together with the gains, together with the value of the cloth!" One should generate faith according to the qualities and let him take it. Taking, etc., is similar to a bowl. For those who know that they have gone for purposes other than stupas and the sangha, they should be assigned from what is obtained. At the foot of trees and on the foundations of meadows, they should also be assigned according to seniority. If the dwelling is not enough, even the size of the foundation for two or so is acceptable. One should consider the location of the bowl, water pot, clay, tooth stick, and medicine. The gatehouse, the hidden part of the stairs, the corridor, the open space, the filled area, and the enclosure of the heating room should not be assigned. One should not assign a dwelling at night. The dwelling where the sick person is staying should not be given to another. If it is not obtained, it should not be withheld. One should not make him do the work of that and that servant. A leper should not use the sangha's dwelling. A secluded dwelling should be given to him. The sangha should attend to it, together with the square in the eaves and the corridor, and the foundation of the gatehouse, the steps, the heaps, and the dwelling under the tree should not be inhabited.
