One should not rely on a place where the four great elements must be practiced. One should not distinguish the four great elements by cutting off the meditation of harm. Violating the precepts is a downfall. A bed, a small bed, a cushion with an inner lining, coarse cloth, a pillow, and a round cushion are dwellings. Up to forty-nine cubits is its vicinity. The surrounding area starts from the doorway. In order to transcend it, even walking due to forgetfulness, sleeping inside, entering into meditative absorption, etc., are concealed. Facing each other is combination. Becoming each other and the past is the end. If one covers or causes to be covered, these will not occur. For a bhikkhu who has been entrusted, it will also not occur. It will also not occur when encountering danger. Conduct is the same as doing. When both are practiced simultaneously, the one who stands up later has business. If together, it is because of youth. If it is the same, it is by both. For those who are shameless, have illness, are old, are sick, and have not received full ordination, this itself is not something to be entrusted. Should this temple be watched or looked after? Should this dwelling be watched or tidied up? Should the door latch be closed? Like this is the entruster. There are three situations for each other: being blown away by the wind, rain causing other things to pile up, and also by insects, etc. For this, the monastic dwelling itself or by the designated person placing things without coverings, like this are the doers. Ultimately, it is the main practice. Combination is an offense. For a period of time, until others reside, it is also so. It is also so for a person. It is also so for the four below. For what is not to be touched, it will not change. After covering and going for alms, if wind and rain come, those living in the temple should cover. For its meaning itself, there is no fault or blame. If one passes or goes far due to forgetfulness, and then recovers memory, one should not do this in the future. One should generate such intention and also speak it out. If one encounters a bhikkhu coming back from the road, for the sake of covering, one should entrust it to him. If the promise is the demonstrator, then he

That is what needs to be done. If leaving a dwelling, in order not to encounter misfortune and fear, the dwelling should be tidied up. If it becomes dirty, it should be dusted off. It should be emptied. Or it should be entrusted to a Bhikshu. If there is none, it should be entrusted to a Shramanera. If there is still none, it should be entrusted to a householder. If there is none at all, one should look in all four directions, hide the key, and then leave. If one sees a Bhikshu on the road, one should tell him about that place. If one returns and is invited to another's house as a guest, but the door is closed, one should place the mat by the wall or near a tree and enter. There, the mat should also be lent to others. One should not use it oneself. This is what householders and Shramaneras should do. If there is none, in order to carry it, one should entrust it to a householder to bring back. If they say, "We have carried it away," one should leave it and depart. If they have not carried it away, those who dwell there should take it. If there is none, one should take it oneself. If everyone takes it, one should strike the Ghaṇṭā (hand bell). If a patron borrows mats in the monastery for his own purpose, they should be given. In order to protect these, a Bhikshu should also be appointed. He should stay in one place. One should not neglect one's own work. One should also devote one's mind. If it is dirty, it should be wiped clean. Unclean things should be cleaned away. If it is wine, it should be washed with water. If it is oil, it should be cleaned with alkali. If it is unclean, it should be cleaned with earth, clay, or manure. If the fabric is unclean, it should be cut off. If one sees that the mat on which a householder is sitting has not been wiped, it should be wiped. If it is an old or sick person, it should be done by the Gekö (monk in charge of discipline). He should be responsible for wiping it. Everyone should take care of the sick person. Sitting. One should not carry the mat and walk around there. Mats should be spread out in the place where the sick person is lying. If the Khenpo or Acharya goes to a place of virtue, if others do not increase virtue, one should follow behind. Therefore, one should use the mat oneself. One should not use it without permission. One should use it when sleeping oneself. When listening to the Dharma without a covering, if there is wind and rain, one should cover it. Because the elderly are heavy, if one cannot do it oneself, one should exchange with the young people. It should be placed harmoniously. The monastery's...
