Things like 'knowing' arise. This matter occurs in both cases. It's just called a 'messenger.' The vessel of the heretics is a vessel like a skull. The unbaked bowl is because it hasn't been baked. The excess is because it exceeds the amount mentioned earlier. It is thought that exceeding the amount is also not allowed. Likewise, if it exceeds the mat, it is said to be a misdeed. The gray bowl is because the color hasn't been changed. If, from the perspective of distinction, isn't it said that there is no downfall for small bowls, etc.? How is it said to be a misdeed here? That is not an offense. That is said to be without downfall, considering it is used as a medicine bowl. But here, it is used as a bowl, so it is a misdeed. The difference between these two is this. The phrase 'if a Bhikshuni holds it' means that for a Bhikshuni, if she holds a bowl for more than one day, it is pointed out as a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. But this is not even one day yet. The phrase 'one winter' etc. means that for a Bhikshu holding it, it hasn't been ten days yet, so this is not the case. From the question, it is said like this: Venerable, suppose a Bhikshu obtains a bowl and then changes gender, becoming a Bhikshuni, what happens if she holds it for more than a year? It becomes a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. Venerable, if a Bhikshu holds an extra bowl for more than a year, does it become a Nissaggiya Pacittiya? Yes, for example, as soon as a Bhikshu obtains a bowl, he changes gender, becoming a Bhikshuni, and holding it for more than one day, it becomes a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. It is said elsewhere like this. The meaning is this: 'As soon as he obtains it' means immediately after obtaining it. After that, when another gender change occurs, other than the actual time, if holding the bowl changes gender, know that it has been damaged, because in this way both supports are damaged. For example, if a Bhikshu becomes a Bhikshuni while holding it for nine days, from the tenth day onwards, the relinquishment is established. If combined with this, it will also become like this: a Bhikshuni holding a bowl for one day, and then dawn breaks.

If one becomes a Bhikshu in an instant, then after ten days of being a Bhikshu, one will incur a downfall. This should be understood in this way. It should be copied. Like "a very long time," etc., previously it was said within ten days, so the time was clearly stated. Here it is uncertain; the difference between these two is like this. Having is merely having. Possessing is being able to do things. Holding without blessing, this indicates that just as an unblessed Dharma garment must be discarded even after ten days, similarly, a single unblessed bowl must also be discarded after ten days. In the Pratimoksha and its distinctions and questions, didn't the Blessed One say that if one holds an extra blessed bowl, one will commit a downfall? Like this, the Blessed One himself said in the distinctions that an extra bowl means more than a blessed bowl. However, if a single bowl is not blessed, it is said to be discarded, then how can it be said here that a single bowl is not blessed and must be discarded after ten days? This is uncertain. Like this, if one has a blessed bowl and still holds other bowls, then after ten days, one must discard it. If one does not have a blessed bowl, then the bowl is already complete, and if it is not blessed, one will commit the downfall of discarding it after ten days. It is like having or not having three blessed Dharma garments, one must discard them after ten days. Therefore, the difference in location here is like this. The abandonment of holding extra bowls is determined. Lacking five patches means that if one lacks the five patches of long patch, small seal, patch, crocodile tooth-like, and made of tsampa, it is called lacking five patches. Being usable means being able to be used, which indicates that if that bowl is patched with four patches and is also usable, then at that time, one does not need to look for another bowl. When it is patched with five patches, at that time

There is no fault in seeking another bowl if that bowl is very unsuitable at that time. "Having" means "holding." "Wanting a good one" means wanting one that excels in size, color, material, and so on. "For" means "as a cause," that is, "with the mind of enjoying." "For the community of monks" means "for the Sangha of monks." "To impoverish it" means "to give it away completely." "Becoming the last bowl" means "becoming the worst bowl," that is, "a bad bowl." "To him" means "to the monk who confesses the offense." The word "later" means "last," so it should be given last at the time of offering. "Until the end of breakage" means "that which has an end of breakage is called that," that is, "after breakage it becomes unnecessary." Only acknowledging the end of breakage as the limit, then that bowl should be held. It should be known that only through this ritual can one avoid incurring the offense of holding a surplus bowl. As asked in some treatises, "Some monks hold surplus bowls until the end of their lives, but they do not incur an offense, is that so?" The answer is, "It is so, if it is offered to the community of monks." "Slightly" means "not very good." If it is used, is it used joyfully at all times? The answer is, "Slowly," meaning "sometimes it is possible, not at all times." "Utensils or gradually," etc., it is said that there is no offense because there is no seeking like begging. It should be understood from the main text, because it is mainly determined by him. It is not so for combination, because joining in order to find a surplus bowl does not become the offense of not eating. Therefore, this will only become a misdeed. Therefore, some people ask only this, "If one seeks another bowl with one's own utensils, it is a misdeed. If one has one's own utensils but begs for a bowl, it is a misdeed."
