Therefore, examine this difference through transformation. As for "after removing the garment support," the garment support refers to temporarily preventing it from shrinking, which is said to keep the monks in a state of mindfulness. The garment support is similar to trust, therefore the garment support is the same. For example, in order to ensure that the monastic robe is made without wrinkles, a flat, square garment support made of wood or bamboo is needed. Similarly, by means of aspiration and the two, laying out the monastic robe called a garment support, is said to be the reason for complete decline through the accomplishment of the Sangha's activities being the same, the taste being the same, the gains being the same, and so on. For example, regarding laying out the garment support, the Bhagavan spoke of ten benefits: there is no interval of ten days, no separation at night, no interval of months, one can travel through fields with the upper and lower garments, there is no assembly and eating, again no eating, wandering without mixing with laypeople, seeking monastic robes as one wishes, possessing unpermitted monastic robes as one wishes, and obtaining these from the summer months to the autumn months, which belong to those who lay out the garment support. Removing it is either by oneself or due to karma. By doing the act of removing it, the benefits also disappear. Therefore, if one possesses clothes but has not removed the garment support, then from the middle month of autumn to the first month of spring, there is no downfall in possessing the monastic robes made in the previous month. If the garment support has also been removed and one also possesses monastic robes, then after ten days, downfall will occur, one should know that this is how it is shown. As for "within ten days," ten days is a collection of ten days. The time limit for possessing monastic robes, that limit is the ultimate, therefore it is said that way, it is a synonym for "within ten days." Remaining clothes refers to any clothes that do not exceed the blessed monastic robes. As for "unpermitted," it refers to what is determined by pleasing the minds of the permitting Khenpos and others, with mantras as the precursor, and is a synonym for being completely controlled by others. That which has not been done is called unpermitted. As for "exceeding," it refers to what follows.
