In actions and so on, some people may have thoughts like this: because the scriptures are too long, they cannot be listened to with wisdom, nor can they engage in activities such as thinking. Because such thoughts arise, it is said that it is permissible. The scriptures should be combined with the body. Saying "it is permissible" with wisdom comes from hearing and thinking. For things that are seen only with the eyes of flesh, one should only observe them, and one should not thoroughly examine inverted notions such as happiness and purity. If there is anything that can bring benefit from it, then, as it is said, liberation can be attained merely by examining what is seen. If things can be judged solely by the way they are seen, then merely focusing on this can generate awareness, thereby liberating from samsara. Gawa, do not leave because you trust me, and so on. I should accept what he says with trust, this is the generation of trust, it is leaving for the sake of trust. Expressing oneself in the manner of "I really like this teaching" is leaving for the sake of fondness. Because this scripture is very important, one should practice according to the meaning of this scripture, expressing oneself in this way is leaving for the sake of hearing. Recalling the qualities of the Buddha, such as "Buddha, Bhagavan" and so on, through a comprehensive contemplation of the form, and then expressing oneself according to its meaning, is leaving for the sake of a comprehensive contemplation of the form. Here, analyzing and contemplating in the manner of "seeing the Bhagavan and being very delighted," enduring this contemplation, this is endurance, expressing oneself in this way is leaving for the sake of endurance of contemplation of what is seen. Because all monks should be respected, this teaching should be accepted, expressing oneself in this way is leaving for the sake of respect for monks. Before all else, we have promised that this will be our teacher.

Therefore, expressing it in this way, "This word is not to be spoken," is to go forth out of respect for the Lama. The term "alone" indicates the truth shown by the body, and "gone to a secluded place" indicates the truth of the mind. To contemplate the meaning is to think. To examine from the perspective of qualities and faults is to measure. To comprehend one aspect is to closely realize. To repeatedly examine individually is to practice extensively. "Manifest" means to be without doubt. "To closely accomplish" means to be completely perfected by wisdom, which is synonymous with "great knowing." "My island," and so forth, refers to an island that completely protects from the cause of suffering, and is a refuge because it completely protects from suffering itself. That which is both island and refuge is self-island and self-refuge. Dharma is either the Dharma of ultimate truth or the Dharma of teaching; that which is its island and refuge is the island of Dharma and the refuge of Dharma. The island is not other, and the refuge is not other, which indicates liberation from the state of dependence on others. One should not abide by depending on others, but rather act by oneself. As it is said, "Monks, under this solitary tree," up to "Monks, do not be heedless, meditate! Later you will regret it," thus it is taught. "Inner" means to have power over oneself, which is synonymous with "one's own body." Among these, "to contemplate the body" means to contemplate the collection of impure things. Thus, regarding this body, there are hair and body hair, up to the brain and marrow flowing out. To examine individually means to examine from the perspective of its own characteristics and general characteristics. "Having diligence" means because of completely burning, burning is diligence, which means having that effort. "Having mindfulness" means being very mindful and possessing. "Having awareness" means having wisdom.
