Entering into laxity, which causes the increase and expansion of actions of body and so on, is due to the actions of extreme increase in laxity towards discipline. Because it is inappropriate, it is not a renunciate. Because it is not in accordance with the noble path, it is inconsistent. Because it is inconsistent with renunciation, it is unseemly. "Merely the future" means that what was previously attained has disappeared. "Not for abiding" means being outside the activities of a bhikkhu, such as requests and so on. "Cutting off by severance" means arguing by seeking points. "How do those who speak of debate" means establishing close vows through words. In "by speech" and so on, doing things slowly means that whatever is done with misconduct of body and so on becomes hasty and one strives for it. Doing things hastily means that good conduct of body and so on is done slowly and one does not strive for it. "Completely abandoning proper conduct" means completely abandoning the assembly associated with the noble path. "Children find more suffering" means that because of evil thoughts, one speaks evil words to the mind and does evil deeds, therefore it is heard under the name of "child." "Not famous" and so on are easy to understand. Good conduct of body and so on, or quickly engaging in the work of meditation, and going to the non-body with the thought of non-activity, that is what it means to be wise. By completely abandoning the path of improper conduct, which leads to samsara, one will attain the bliss of nirvana. Grasping with different names means extracting from the names, up to grasping each of the seven hundred arhats' names. "It will become very confused" means that it will become confused from mentioning many names. The holder of the Vinaya is the one who holds the Vinaya from the perspective of scripture and meaning. Being widely learned means being skilled in other treatises. Another means being distinguished in terms of the main point. Subduing the senses means subduing the senses such as the eyes. Because all afflictions have been abandoned, doubt has been cut off. Because there is no cause for wrongdoing—afflictions.

Cutting off regrets. The so-called "arising from the monastery" means that monks of the number of the Sangha appeared outside the boundary of the Vinaya. To this, the venerable Kubjaka Soma thought in a clear way. When many monks prostrated, because a long time had passed, the monks went to the outer boundary of the Vinaya. The Vaishalians forbade the ten grounds of investigation and compiled the Vinaya Pitaka, Sutra Pitaka, and Abhidhamma Pitaka. Therefore, it was named "Truly Compiled by Seven Hundred Arhats," because it was indeed compiled by seven hundred Arhats. The eighth chapter of the Explanation of Minor Matters, composed by the teacher Śīlabhadra. Wise scholars with the ability to distinguish this principle, various treatises with related meanings. Those who have the ability to make faultless explanations, which are needed for explanations. The Sangha, in order to listen to the treatises, is free from obvious efforts and is reversed. Knowing that they like obvious efforts, they speak of that, but in that way, respect does not arise. Therefore, although I am not accustomed to speaking of that which is faultless, and my ability is weak. But relying on the mind of the Victorious One, I strive to do unequal things well. With my extremely low intelligence, I have not correctly combined the meanings I have understood here in order. My lineage is not an arrangement of those empty and vulgar sounds. With poor memory and empty of the actions of the treatises. For my improper behavior, which does not dwell on sound and scripture, may the Guru forgive me. Here, all the beautiful words that have good meaning, and those that have beautiful sounds, are all the power of the Guru. Whatever is bad is my foolish wisdom. Skilled in the meaning of all the treatises. After hearing from the Guru Dharma Supreme. Śīlabhadra made this subtle commentary. Thus, the meaning of the subtle, spoken by the perfectly enlightened Buddha. From well explaining this subtle meaning. Whatever merit arises, may beings obtain Śīlabhadra. After I pass away from here, by this. May I be born in the presence of Maitreya.
