Therefore. The so-called "leak" refers to what leaks, namely afflictions; and from where it leaks, namely the doors of body, speech, and mind. Discipline, like a water gate, can also prevent all of this. In this way, for the afflictions that have already manifested, and the actions of body, speech, and mind that arise from them, discipline can also prevent them. Now, in order to praise it as being the same as the teacher, it is said: "The Victorious Teacher's teachings, such as the Sutras and Abhidharma, are said to be the Vinaya, which is the real Teacher and Treatise, therefore, the two should be revered like the Buddha and Dharma as one." This means that the Victorious Bhagavan is the Teacher, because he enables all teachings to enter. The Teacher's teachings, such as the Sutras and Abhidharma, are the two treatises, because these two treatises enable beings to fully mature and be liberated. The Vinaya is actually also the Teacher, because it, like the Tathagata, constantly shows the way to those who are liberated and those who are not. The Vinaya is also actually a treatise, because it is the nature of a treatise. Therefore, this Vinaya is transformed from one essence into two aspects, because it is the essence of the Teacher and the Treatise, so the Vinaya is worthy of reverence, and one must definitely revere it. If you ask: Like what has it become two aspects? In order to show an example that does not contradict the Dharma, it is said: "Like the Buddha and Dharma as one." For example, the Buddha Bhagavan and the Dharma are different in essence, because the Buddha is the all-knowing one, the Bhagavan, the one who has attained Nirvana, and the Dharma is the path to Nirvana, so the two are different in essence, but just as the name Buddha becomes one. In contrast to this, the Vinaya is transformed from one essence, because it, like the Tathagata, constantly shows the way to those who are liberated and those who are not, so it is the Teacher; and because it is the nature of a treatise, it is also a treatise. Therefore, the essence of the Teacher and the Treatise are united as one, and it should be revered.

It is the only proper reason for practice. Now, because it is even higher than the Tathagata, in order to show that one should prostrate to it, (the text says:) "The Buddhas abide in reliance on it, all revere and follow it, it is the protector of protectors, it is the place of refuge. Therefore, one should diligently seek and prostrate to it in accordance with the Dharma." This is the meaning of what is said. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, rely on it and do not do anything that contradicts it, therefore they are given the name, they revere it with complete respect, and because of the condemnation of the world, they follow it with the intention of praise, such discipline should be diligently sought and prostrated to. Why? Because, (the text says:) "It is the protector of protectors, it is the place of refuge." This is the meaning of what is said. Because that discipline is also the teacher and protector of our teacher and protector, the Buddha Bhagavat, because he is so respectful and compliant; that discipline is refuge, because it is the cause of completely abandoning the household and making good asceticism; that discipline is the place, because it gives rescue and protection to those who have taken asceticism, and also completely protects asceticism, therefore, one should strive, and one must prostrate to this discipline, this is the concluding word. In order to generate respect through the cause of harm itself, (the text says:) "Whoever, to the teacher, the teaching of compassion, with a slight disregard, he obtains suffering from it, like burning a bamboo forest, destroying a mango grove." This is the meaning of what is said. Any renunciate who is endowed with negligence, towards the teacher, the Bhagavat, who has compassion, the teaching that equally shows benefit, from the precepts and commandments spoken in the discipline, even a slight transgression, thinks that only downfall and the like will arise, thinking in this way, thinking that it is meaningless, so preconceived, slightly transgressing and contradicting the renunciate who is endowed with negligence, he will, because of transgressing the Dharma, suffer great physical and mental suffering in the next life.
