It will not become the basis for performing meritorious deeds. Some people believe that the basis for performing meritorious deeds is not produced from matter, not from visible, tangible, or invisible phenomena. For these people, merely through the words of taking refuge and accepting precepts, the non-visible phenomena are expressed, thereby proving the non-materially produced basis for performing meritorious deeds. Therefore, even without saying "obtaining joy, great joy, vast goodness, certain liberation, and being endowed," everything is well. Joy means being in accordance with faith and so on. Being endowed with certain liberation means necessarily tending towards, it is the name for being free from desire. Its essence is being endowed with certain liberation, that is, non-attachment itself. The joy and great joy that are in accordance with this are endowed with certain liberation. Striving to return means beginning to return. In that very town means in the place of the village where one resides. Having seen, one also obtains joy, great joy, vast goodness, certain liberation, and being endowed, this refers to initiating visible actions such as "This noble one is peaceful, I shall listen to the Dharma from him," and so on. Having heard, one also obtains joy and great joy, vast goodness, certain liberation, and being endowed, this refers to initiating visible actions such as "This Dharma is good, it should be followed," and so on. In order to make it easy to understand and to allow those who have not heard to hear, the teacher also spoke these verses. Supreme ocean means without depth and other shore. Auspicious means the ocean is filled with hundreds and thousands of deities. Pure means purity itself. Even all the rivers such as the Ganges, which are places of purity, are particularly distinguished because this place does not coexist with corpses. Comfortable shore means gradually sloping and being the location of all shores. Source of jewels

The reason for saying 'earth' is because it produces treasures. The meaning here is: Just as various rivers, such as the Ganges, relied upon by humans and wild animals, flow into the ocean, so too will various streams of merit flow in every way to the person who gives clothes, food, drink, bedding, cushions, and mats. That is its meaning. Like rivers flowing into the ocean. Repeating this statement is to show that the source of merit is limitless. Just as the rivers that flow in and are filled with water are limitless, so too are those streams of merit similar to that. 'Uttering a sound' means emitting a tone. At that time, the king would understand the situation through the sound, and the reason for saying 'uttering a sound' is to explain that they were invited by uttering a sound. 'Able to conquer alone' means being able to conquer alone without being defeated. 'Two quivers filled with five hundred arrows' means two quivers filled with five hundred arrows each. 'Completely avoiding the warrior' means opening a path. 'Throwing arrows at each other' means shooting arrows. 'You live, and I'm okay too.' This means, whether you live or I live, it's okay. 'Bereg' refers to an oil tank with a clean interior. 'Rilu' refers to rilu made from mung beans, peas, etc., cooked in hot water. 'Trading time' refers to the end of the place where goods are sold. 'Meal officer' refers to the person who works. 'Sending away the daughter' means giving away the daughter in marriage. 'Welcoming the daughter' means welcoming the daughter. 'Village chief' refers to the leader of the people. 'Pool bubbling' refers to bubbles rising. 'Cutting off the vital points' refers to the time when one loses consciousness in those vital points of the body that lead to death. 'If it is done that way' means it must be done, that is, enacting a law. 'Household register' refers to the names of household slaves. 'Hanging' means hanging up. 'Being as stingy as oneself' means being stingy with oneself.
