Some say that this is to show that even those who are free from desire and pure appear particularly excellent and wonderful. Some say that this is to dispel the misunderstanding that those who attain the noble path by obtaining reasoning and starting practice are bodhisattvas. The so-called "coming to Jambudvipa" refers to the last bodhisattva incarnation being born in Jambudvipa (Earth). The reason why this is mentioned after mentioning the righteous man, but not in the following paragraphs, is to show that even ordinary people are like those righteous men who are free from desire. In order to realize the fruit of stream-entry, there is the so-called "giving food to the stream-enterer." But the "giving food" mentioned here does not refer to giving alms, because this does not exist for those who have entered the path of realization. The so-called "permanent requisites" refers to monasteries, fields, goods, etc., which are items that provide a permanent means of livelihood without the donor having to think about them repeatedly. The so-called "corresponding offering" refers to not being mixed with incompatible things such as killing. The so-called "contemplating impermanence" refers to observing things arising multiple times. The so-called "contemplating decay" refers to observing the decay of things after they arise. The so-called "contemplating detachment" refers to observing the abandonment of desire. The so-called "contemplating cessation" refers to observing the abandonment of all contaminated things. The so-called "contemplating abandonment" refers to observing that all contaminated and uncontaminated things will be extinguished in nirvana without remainder. This sutra is spoken for those who should be associated with evil householders, good givers, and those who are free from desire for the form and formless realms. The so-called "activity of fire" refers to the work of fire such as burning. The so-called "third order" refers to one-third. The so-called "most excellent" refers to being very high. The so-called "most magnificent" refers to being most clear. The so-called "guarding fullness" refers to maintaining fullness. The so-called "refuting and examining" refers to pursuing reason. The so-called "not born from reason" refers to unchastity. The so-called "abundant wealth" is a synonym for being close to enjoying the enjoyments of the place. Dharma Increase
