That which has no essence means that outwardly, the very nature of the seed, because the term is reversed, wherever a hole is made, there is no nature of the seed itself, so each one should be pierced, that is its synonym. Monks should first take what is to be taken in order to abandon what is not given. Having made (something) to be disposed of and then discarding it, means that after noon it becomes something to be disposed of. Monks should first give, and later householders should give, meaning that in order not to make it something to be disposed of, these are the four accomplishments of not taking what is not given. Having placed it in a suitable room means in a food and drink room. "Hand overturned" means placing the palm of the hand face down, because it is not directed towards taking, so not taking what is not given is not established. "Having taking" is a synonym for "knowing how to take." Except for water and toothpicks, because they are not food, the offense that would occur is also prevented. "Human hand" means the palm of a human hand. "By its habit" means by familiarity, which is a synonym for obtaining an action that is in accordance with it. The explanation of the thirty-ninth precept, the downfall of eating without having been given, is complete. "Extremely large mouth" means by the very fact of having a large mouth. "From the houses of others" means from the houses of non-relatives, meaning from houses that have not been asked. How does a downfall occur in that case? If it is not at the time of both begging and eating, then an offense occurs in the preparation, and a downfall occurs in the actual deed. If one is missing, then an offense occurs. If both are missing, then there is no downfall. It should be said that one has been asked, meaning that by asking what is desired, in the meaning of what is desired, it is a separate time for begging, that is the thought. One should beg for what is desired, meaning that because of the request, it is self-accomplished. There is no downfall in begging for yogurt, whey, etc., because one is begging for something inferior. The explanation of the fortieth precept, the downfall of begging for gain, is complete. "Used internally" means used closely with the body. "Used externally" means the body's possessions.

Used for intimate enjoyment. The transgression of using water with living beings, the explanation of the forty-first precept is complete. The wish-fulfilling jewel of wisdom is the treatise that knows the characteristics of the wish-fulfilling jewel of thought. A woman is a man's bed, and a man is a woman's bed, which means that the act of bedding includes enjoyment, because touch is food for the mouth. The transgression of staying in a house prepared for bedding, the explanation of the forty-second precept is complete. Standing within a fathom means standing and staying within a fathom, because it is such a close range, and outside a fathom is a transgression, even seeing and hearing. The transgression of standing in order to prepare for bedding, the explanation of the forty-third precept is complete. How far did you go in the ruins means how far did you go. The term "assembly" here refers to the places on the path. Hunger means thirst. Beggar's food means begging. Touching suffering means being with suffering. Householder bald head means only living at home and only shaving the head. He spoke verses, etc. These verses show the fault of not knowing what was done. Not knowing what was done, because the earth does not accept it, so to show how strange it is that an evil person like you does not sink into the earth, it is said: Why does the evil person not sink into the earth? It was said like this. The tongue of one who does not know what was done will also split, so to show how strange it is that the tongue of an evil person like you does not split, it is said: Why does the tongue not split into a hundred pieces?

Thus it was said. If yakshas and others were to hurl vajras and the like at a body that does not know gratitude, then it would be very strange indeed that yakshas do not hurl vajras and the like at a wicked one like you who does not know gratitude, in order to show this. Why should secrets be kept from your body? It is said, "Many vajra hailstones are not thrown." The term "secrets" refers to the yakshas, the guardians of the world. "Vajra hail" refers to the continuous falling of vajra rain. Just as a fox that eats the leftovers of a lion wants to kill the lion itself, so too, you eat the food of the one with the ten powers, and yet you revile the one with the ten powers, you ungrateful one! This is an example of not knowing gratitude. "Ungrateful" is a Tibetan word, meaning one who possesses a mind afflicted by disturbing emotions. It is taught thus: O ungrateful one, just as this fox in the world eats the leftovers of a lion, and being ungrateful, wants to kill the lion itself, so too, you eat the leftovers of the victorious one who possesses the ten powers, together with his disciples, and yet you revile the one who possesses the ten powers, together with his disciples, thus you are ungrateful! This is what was taught. Where and to whom does one draw near? From this, evil people obtain a livelihood. He is certainly one who treats friends and enemies equally, is wise, and is all-knowing. This means that if one relies on the Buddha, even evil people like these can obtain a livelihood, then it is evident that the Buddha certainly treats friends and enemies equally, is wise, and is all-knowing. "Where" means the place. "To whom" means to the Buddha. "Drawing near" means seeking refuge. "Evil people like these" means evil people who do not know gratitude. "Obtaining a livelihood" means obtaining food. "He" means the Buddha. "Treating equally, being wise" means that because there is no attachment or anger, the mind is treated equally. Those people who do not know gratitude are considered to be much worse than dogs.
