If you put in any vegetables along with the remnants of two portions of food cooked in a small dry Magadha bucket, it will not fill one thumb joint. The capacity of a small bowl is half of that. The capacity of a medium bowl is said to be anything in between the two. If a monk accepts more than five and a half small buckets of alms, everything will become a cause of downfall. A bowl full, two bowls, or three or more bowls, this is the general measure. Alms exceeding the remnants of five and a half buckets of food cooked in a small dry Magadha bucket, excluding vegetables, is the actual agent of this cause of downfall. Vegetables are not included. No matter how many monks there are, if they accept more than the remnants of five and a half buckets of food cooked in a small dry Magadha bucket, everything will become a cause of downfall. "Given as the benefactor pleases" is a word that does not need to be considered. This precept was established to prohibit not knowing the measure. Taking more than about three bowls of food leads to downfall, which is the end of the explanation of the thirty-third precept. "Single seat food" means eating without abandoning the characteristic of abandoning the residence. "Extremely small mind" means striving with very little action. "Feeling" means experiencing. "Abandoning" means completely abandoning food. "How much is enough" means how much you want. "Starting food" means starting to eat food. "Abandoning like water" means gradually like a stream of water, whatever leaves etc. come, you use it to abandon, that is its meaning. "Dry vegetables" means vegetables without broth. These five preparations do not cause abandonment, because these five preparations themselves are not complete, abandoning non-food does not cause abandoning food, therefore these five preparations have no abandonment. These five foods cause abandonment, because abandoning the main also abandons the non-main.

If one abandons the five foods and wears the five garments, it becomes a downfall, that is its definition. Having worn the five garments, then the five foods should be eaten, this is because the garments have not been abandoned. These garments should not be worn, because they have been abandoned, this is shown by the force of meaning. Having eaten the five foods, then the five garments should not be worn, this is because having abandoned the main food, the non-main garment is also abandoned. It is also shown by the force of meaning that these foods should not be eaten. The so-called "accumulated by this" means the food is contaminated. The so-called "stained by this" means stained by the grease of the food. The so-called "having food" etc., the so-called "also", it should be understood that here it refers to food etc. existing in the visible place of enjoyment. The so-called "completely started" means not taking, and placing it in a pile of food etc., thereby making it strong, that is its definition. The so-called "abandoned" is a defining word. The so-called "no food" etc. is the definition of food. The so-called "no food" etc., if there is no food etc., it is meaningless, so even if abandoned, it is the same as not abandoned. The so-called "not abandoned" means that if the dwelling is not given up, it will not become abandoned, so it is not abandoned. The so-called "causing the edible to be abandoned" etc., the so-called "edible" means showing the self-nature of the edible substance. The so-called "not cooked" means that if the cooked edible substance is abandoned, it is abandoned, but if it is an inedible substance, it will not become abandoned, that is its definition. The so-called "no remaining words" etc. means there is no word "temporarily." The five words, "give it" etc., are famous examples in the world, not needed. The so-called "not taking" etc. should also be understood as abandonment. The so-called "give it" means giving it to others, it is the act of giving, it should be understood that it is not giving it to oneself. Also, the so-called "any monk" etc., the so-called "having finished eating food" means that only after finishing eating food can one abandon other things, that is its definition. The so-called "from abandonment" means that even if one has finished eating food, there is no fault in the abandonment itself, that is the intention. The so-called "emitting the sound of a crow" means
