Those who boast of being proficient in writing are actually far from true scholars. "Dust" refers to strong desires and so on. "Dirt" refers to smallness, that is, being extremely inconspicuous. "Inner dust" refers to the faults of desire and so on. "Outer dust" refers to earth dust. "Appearing in the mind" means to appear manifestly. In this dust, it refers to greed and so on. "This" refers to abandoning dust. "Abandoning dirt" refers to these two words. Why? Therefore, dust is another name for desire, that is, it is said to be the name of dust. Thus, the word dust is the name of desire, and it is completely cut off because it is abandoned. The word dust does not refer to earth dust, because it is not the main thing, and even if it is abandoned, there is no need for anything. Therefore, the Blessed One thinks that the dust here refers to desire, not earth dust. Therefore, whichever wise person can completely abandon the characteristic of desire—dust—and eradicate it from the continuum, then those wise people will always be diligent in the teachings of the Sugata, that is, revealing the noble truths, and will strive to practice them diligently. This is the summary. Leakage means being unable to restrain oneself, because the inverted dharma appears as inversion itself. Appearing profound means that knowledge of that realm is rare. Difficult to see means that even those who see through the path of seeing, etc., find it difficult to see. Difficult to realize means that even those who realize it find it difficult to realize through the path of meditation, etc. Impossible to speculate means that even children cannot speculate on its existence. Not an object of speculation means that the speculation of children such as astrologers and fortune tellers cannot touch it. It must be understood by wise and intelligent people who examine it carefully, referring to those with delicate minds, those with firm wills, and wise people who are proficient in treatises, and wise people who, even if they have not heard the treatises, have the wisdom of previous habits.

It is a term to be understood. The term "to speak" means the mind is completely gathered. The sound of the word "year" is a non-abiding word. The term "to request" means to pray. The term "strange ones" is a general term for other non-Buddhist renunciates. Why are they called "strange ones"? In the Vinaya-vibhāṣā, it is said that "Pāṣāṇāṭīkā" refers to the back of a stone. Just as planting seeds on the back of a stone cannot produce sprouts, so too, other non-Buddhists cannot produce the sprouts of liberation, so they are called "stone backs." The term "ninety-six" refers to the six teachers, including the perfecter, and the fact that each of them is divided into fifteen strange ones, for a total of ninety-six. The term "deception" means to deceive. The term "other words" refers to the limits of things and the limits of actions. The term "other letters" refers to words that are the same but have different letters. The term "with other words and letters" means that both are different. The term "three evil deeds of the body" refers to killing, taking what is not given, and sexual misconduct. The term "four evil deeds of speech" refers to lying, slander, harsh speech, and idle talk. The term "three evil deeds of the mind" refers to greed, malice, and wrong views. The term "completely grasping" means that the fault completely grasps the five aggregates. The term "subsequently inspect" means to inspect again. The term "transforming the mind" means that the mind is completely transformed and becomes sharp. The term "excluding those who possess such a dharma" refers to the fact that it is related to the activity of taming. The term "those who appoint commit a fault" means that because they far exceed the place, time, sangha, and individual, it will become an offense. The term "appointing there, he declares to the bhikṣuṇī, it will become a downfall" means that doing it in an unreasonable way is the same as not doing it, so that is not appointing, and it will become a fundamental offense. The term "eight dharmas that lead to defeat" refers to the four common ones, as well as touching, bending the body, hiding, and
