Because it was said, "Can it be repaid by approaching?" To show the boundary of ordination: If someone wants to be ordained, and their parents are alive and do not consent, if the distance is not far, it should be delayed for seven days; if the parents consent, and if the parents do not consent, if the distance is far, they should be ordained immediately. The Blessed One Buddha was dwelling in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti, and so forth. "Have the refuge and the basis of training been given?" refers to having been approached as a lay follower. "A boy like this" refers to being like this in terms of color and shape. "Do you stay only holding a razor?" refers to staying only holding a razor, do you not have other work? This is the meaning of the phrase. "Alas" is the meaning of desire.

"ེས་" is called an item to be sold. The so-called "suffering from unlawfulness" refers to some unreasonable deaths. The so-called "power of relatives" refers to what is obtained from relatives. The so-called "power of hands" refers to obtaining wealth through carrying goods and other means. The so-called "hospitality" refers to making someone comfortable with food and drinks. The so-called "nurturing" refers to making someone strong through bathing, wiping, and applying oil. The so-called "protection" refers to guarding well from external harm. The so-called "non-Buddhist scriptures" refers to grammar and so on. The so-called "shame arising from oneself" is because shame is concerned with oneself. The so-called "shame arising from others" is because shame is dependent on others. The so-called "increasing strength" refers to making someone happy. The so-called "garden of asceticism" refers to empty dwellings. The so-called "place of non-Buddhists" refers to monastic dwellings that are not empty. The so-called "ordination should not be given without the permission of the Sangha" means that if someone wants to be ordained, their parents are alive and have not given permission, if the residence is not near, they must wait seven days, and if the residence is far away, they must not be ordained without the permission of the Sangha. Reporting to the Sangha is to avoid the slander of being accused of being a "thief." Some say that reporting to the Sangha is because it is necessary to report to the Sangha assembly, but if monks and nuns do not assemble, it will be delayed, and when they do assemble, some monks will return, etc., delaying the time. At this time, if the parents come and ask, if they allow it, then give ordination, if they do not allow it, then send them back, therefore reporting to the Sangha is difficult. In order to explain the limits of not ordaining the sick and fully ordaining monks, the Buddha, the World Honored One, while residing in the Kalanda Garden of Bamboo Grove in Rajagriha, spoke these words. The so-called "abandoning" refers to discarding. The so-called "nourishing" is because King Suddhodana used the phrase "nourishing" to be universally used. The so-called "youth nourished" refers to Prince Siddhartha nourished.
