Although actions are mentioned, if someone does not have the power to do those four branches themselves, even if they have the power to have others do them, they will not do those three branches. If it were not so, then the meaning of "abiding in the Vinaya," that branch which should not be repeated would also become repeated. If that is the case, then why is it said "have others do it"? Because it depends on those to be tamed, because some can be tamed by some, but not all can be tamed by all. The so-called "having morality, being learned, upholding the Sutra Pitaka, upholding the Vinaya Pitaka, and upholding the Matrika" is the second of the five. Among them, the so-called "having morality" means that whoever has morality is the one who has morality, because there is no case of breaking morality here, so it should be known that knowing this is good is the very one who has morality. The so-called "learned" means that whoever has much learning is the one who is learned, that is, knowing many treatises. From this point on, in the fifth category, whoever has direct knowledge of the Sutra Pitaka, the Vinaya Pitaka, and the Matrika Pitaka, then their learning is focused on other treatises. Where the direct knowledge of the Pitaka is not included, it should be known that learning is focused on the realm of one's own tenets. The so-called "upholding the Sutra Pitaka, upholding the Vinaya Pitaka, and upholding the Matrika" means upholding the Sutra Pitaka and so on without forgetting. The so-called "having morality, being learned, being skilled in the Sutra Pitaka, being skilled in the Vinaya Pitaka, and being skilled in the Matrika" is the third of the five. Among them, the so-called being skilled in the Sutra Pitaka and so on means that the three Pitakas are interconnected and mixed, and one is able to abide separately. The so-called "having morality, being learned, being knowledgeable in the Sutra Pitaka, being knowledgeable in the Vinaya Pitaka, and being knowledgeable in the Matrika" is the fourth type. Among them, the so-called being knowledgeable in the Sutra Pitaka and so on means being able to combine the two valid cognitions of direct perception and inference, as well as the Sutra Pitaka and so on of the Agamas. The so-called "having morality, being learned, being clear about the Sutra Pitaka, being clear about the Vinaya Pitaka, and being clear about the Matrika" is the fifth of the five.

It is. In this regard, "clarifying in the sutras and so on" means combining the sutras and so on with both scriptural authority and reasoning, and being able to make others understand. Having discipline, being learned, being able to cause others to uphold the sutras, being able to cause others to uphold the Vinaya, being able to cause others to uphold the Matrika, these are called the fifth and sixth. Among them, "being able to cause others to uphold the sutras and so on" means that by the very meaning of these treatises, one can cause others to uphold and understand. This is actually the Abhisamayalankara of the treatises, which is a branch of it. If it is not so, if one does not have Abhisamayalankara oneself, how can one cause others to uphold by the very meaning? Moreover, the meaning of abiding in the Vinaya will become very repetitive. Therefore, it should be known that what can make others understand is the expression of a person who has the Abhisamayalankara of the treatises. Having discipline, being learned, studying higher discipline training, studying higher mind training, studying higher wisdom training, these are called the fifth and seventh. Among them, the word "higher" refers to the meaning of higher and the meaning of being dominated. Mentioning discipline includes all the trainings belonging to the Vinaya. Mentioning mind includes the four dhyanas, because they are what tame the mind. Mentioning wisdom includes the undefiled path. "Studying" means to study. Having discipline, being learned, being able to cause others to study higher discipline training, being able to cause others to study higher mind training, being able to cause others to study higher wisdom training, these are called the fifth and eighth. It should be known that this is the same as the previous one, because if one has not studied higher discipline and so on oneself, one cannot cause others to study, because it is said in the sutras that it is impossible to tame others without taming oneself. "Being able to cause others to study" means to cause others to higher discipline.
