"Pride" means being satisfied by relying on one's own merits. "Arrogance" means being satisfied by realizing that one is superior to others. Therefore, "pride" and "arrogance" must be destroyed and completely abandoned, which is their synonym. "Accumulation" means the nature of gathering. "All of them will be exhausted" means that they will eventually be exhausted. "High" means those objects that are thrown high. The place called "earth" is to be abandoned. The place of wandering is called changing to another place. "Not indulging in desires" means not indulging in the realms, which is a synonym. "Having arisen in the mind" means being separated from joy. "Practicing austerities" means intense asceticism such as holding one's breath. "Having nothing" means having no fruit. "As is comfortable" and so on, means arising from the cause of breathing, and for the sake of returning from the meditation of abdominal breathing. "Inhaling" means air entering inside. "Exhaling" means air coming out. "Coarse rice" means crushed barley, which is a synonym for coarse grains. "Vast" means because the causes and conditions are vast, and because the quantity is large.
